so if you want a CLEAN engine.. get the AC Delco filter.. it's not like anything BUT K&N is going to choke your engine lol

no cai still greAT but for filtering pruposes they make a special one that helps filter more out without losing performance and if u stay on top of ur oil changes ur fine anyway.

The charts on that writeup are a little misleading. It makes K&N look a lot worse than other brands when there isn't all that much of a difference.

I dont think your oil is gonna be affected by any type of air filter you use lol

A reusable filter *should* outperform a standard paper filter, but an oiled filter can cause issues with the intake sensors. To me, it really depends on how long you plan to keep the car.

10 years with oiled filter, no sensor problems as of yet.

the extra 15 dolars for the K&N is just the name you are paying for.
I am a name person, so i would pay. But if your not showing your car, or worried about the name and want performance for cheap, get a competitors.

I think the majority of problems people have experienced, are related to the cleaning and re-oiling of the filter



Some of the reasons I suspect can cause issues:

Over-oiling
Not allowing filter to dry after cleaning, before reapplying new oil
Using high pressure water or air to clean filter, damaging the cotton media

Well if people purchase a filter they should know how to oil it properly or get someone else to do it.
I have actually only recharged mine maybe 2-3 over that time, since they say it doesnt need ot be recharged often and the dirt will actually help it.
Sometimes i just buy a whole new filter, Im just lazy like that, if its too bad, or doesnt come out looking any better when im done re-charging it.
