To ass surround sound to the car.
Most of its shit IMHO.
Unless it has time alignment... That is a beautiful thing to have!

Not unless your decoding Dolby discs/movies...
I think the speakers in a car are all to close to be able to differentiate 5.1 anyhow.

i know my g/fs taurus has an audio processor in the trunk (mach system) and her stock setup sounds pretty decent... but i've always wondered if thats really doing much of anything.

Frequencies contained in a complex musical waveform arrive at the listener in correct phase, with no delay between the woofer, midrange, and tweeter.
A good test for that is a square wave.

Basically what it does is adjust the timing of each speaker so they arrive to your ears at the same time or very close to.
Theres a noticeable difference when I used that feature of the Pioneer 880PRS.
The only huge downside is it sounds like SHIT for anyone not in the drivers seat...

my deck has that optio under pro mode. but i think it had it for standard so it sets it as an avarage adjudtment, front l,r all front or all rear or all. Pioneer Premier DEX-P1R. older deck but they still make 3/4 of the decks now sound like yack backs.
