ok so i bought one for my 2000 2.4 and im not really sure if it is working correctly
i disconnected the battery
i think i installed it to the right wires, here is a picture
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/1143/bmwf5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
the red wire circled is the red with black wire and the other circled is the light blue with white.i know its blurry
How should i test the connections?i didnt really try to skin the wires before i put the blue connectors on (im pretty sure i didnt have to).what should i do?
it may be working...but i really hope that thats all the punch i get.i see no real noticeable changes( it may all be in my head)

put it on setting two (car has to be off), start the engine and put it in gear. it should shift with a 'thunk.' when you drive around a little, it'll shift harder and faster. if you don't notice, then it's not wired up right.

no there is no "thunk" lol.im hopin t wired up right, but just the connections arnt strong enough...is there anyway t check? would a "light bulb" connection tester work?these wires would have to emit electricity for this to work tho

then something is wrong. there should be no doubt what soever that it is shifing harder. go over the connections again to make sure they are good and solder them.

it should be REALLY noticeable. in setting 1, it should be a loud thump, and in setting 2, it should sound like the transmission dropped off the car. lol

there's a bunch of other threads about this, i think at least two are my own, lol. one of them has a pic of the grey plug with the right wires identified.

i couldn't find the equivalent plug on my alero, so i just spliced into the wires under the dash.

one suggestion is to manually splice the wires, not use taps.

note that there are two blue wires w/white stripes and two red wires w/black stripes. this applies to under the dash and on the way to the plug. connecting to the plug itself, i think there are only four or five? wires labeled abc or whatever. check the other posts.

He is right is right on this one. If i had to do it again i wouldnt use the wire taps. they broke my wires and caused me issues...which i rectified this weekend woo hoo.

But here is the "how to" I use. It cant easier than this really

ok problem fixed
one of the wires was loose.i ditched the cheap splices it came with and bought some others from auto zone.
works good
2nd diffinatly shifts reall hard,1st starts off almost stock and gradually gets firmer.im not really sure how much it helps with acceleration, but it feels like it should be doing something lol
honestly it kinda feels like the car is "dumping the clutch"lol
