black or gold....

Hey guys, I'm clearing my corners and painting my bezels today, and was wanting some input on what color to paint them. I'm almost positive I want to do black, but was flirting with the idea of color matching my car... problem is, my car is gold and i'm not sure it would look right to do the bezels gold. I think black would look sweet though. What do you think?

note that with that color.. its going to be hard to find a can that will match that exact gold.

yeah i figured that, which is why I was thinking about the black. Also I should probably mention that appearance-wise I'm also planning on tinting the windows a bit and getting black rims, which is also why I was thinking black and not chrome.

do you have pics (or links to pics) of the black rims? if it's a black wheel with chrome/polished rim, then the chrome would still look better than black

depending if they are sprayed as a whole vs just the very front surface of the bezel is also a very delicate detail...

haha thank you mr. albinomonkey haha. Yeah I was also debating if I did go black whether to do the whole bezel black or not. I really like the look of -alero-'s car, but mines a little lighter so I'm not sure. I always thought black bezels looked good on lighter color cars like mine, and chrome looks awesome on darker cars, but I've never seen it in person so I don't know haha

either chrome or color match, no black. i'd go to a paint place and have them exact color match your car and mix up a spray can of the color.

leave them chrome and get chrome rims. Oldsman has a gold car with chrome rims and it looks bad ass.....granted he has the OSV rims. But if you get the right rims, lower it and leave the headlights chrome.........it will look bad ass:eek:

alright so I ran out of time yesterday, and I'm clearing my corners now haha. I've got everything apart. I knew the bezel looked dirty inside the headlight, but I got it out and tried to clean it, and it didn't work. It looks all moldy and part of the chrome is actually gone. I've got pictures if you don't believe me! haha. Parts of it are black, parts are clear, and parts are chrome. It's all messed up. So I'm going to paint it all black for now, and then possibly at a later date bring them back to chrome. I really wanted to just paint the front of the bezels black, but the part in the back by the light looks the worst, so I'm just gonna go all black for now. We'll see how it looks!

If you want color match paint, some auto paint places will do color match spray cans if you bring them your car's color code.

I did it once and had 2 cans made for a touch up.

hahaha that's NOT me. That's my favorite musician before he got big and famous :). Yeah I sanded my lenses down a bit to clean them, but I still have more work to do to get them clear... They were really oxidized and crap. Once I clear them up more my girl will look much better :)

And thank you for saying it looks decent, I'm glad to get an opinion other than my own haha. I wouldn't be able to handle it if it looked really bad. I might go cry myself to sleep... for a whole week. :(

I thought about taking the pinstripe off, but I thought it might look silly.. but you guys know best :) haha. and yeah, my boyfriends mom loves mickey, so that's her doing :)

and oldsman, it is very nice to see another goldie on here.. I used to think I got the reject color and nothing would look good, but after being on here i've been proved wrong.

if its just a decal, which it looks like it is, just use a hair dryer and something to scrape it off that wont scrape the paint. mine, unfortunately were actually painted on...so i took like 1000 grit or finer sandpaper and kinda buffed them off.

Kwhauck I miss that car. It was teh sex!! The pinstripe is just a sticker. A blow dryer and fingernails will get rid of it. DO NOT USE SANDPAPER! After it is off use some goo gone to get the residue then apply wax to shine it up nice. If you do not want to wreck your fingernails doing it this way use a soft rubber scraper, do not use a stiff one, it will scratch your paint. Good luck.
