this is a general car appearance question. if a car's paint is in need of cleaning, is it ok just to polish it and then wax and to completely skip the clay bar? my car has some surface imperfections and more importantly does my gf's bonneville and I plan to pull out the buffer in the spring and use a very light polishing compound to clean the paint and then follow with a good 2 coats of wax. does that sound good? also, I'm using meguires polish and turtle wax hard shell wax. are they good products?

good enough for a lambo, should be good for your Alero:

Always clay before polish, otherwise you are just grinding those contaminants into your paint, defeating the purpose of a polish.

lol i use a 17 step clean/remove debris/polish/wax/shell system that takes about 9 hours to do on 1 car, it was like 75 dollars for the set, ill post before/after pictures of my cars, when i did the wax
