One of my speakers have recently blown and i am going to replace both front door speakers.Im not much of a speakers wiz although i installed amp, radio, and subs on my old truck.I also replaced the door speakers on it...although it was a bitch.

so im asking, where are the screws and what is the process to remove the front door pannels?
Is there anything extra with an Alero that i need to consider?

behind the handle u use to swing the door shut on the inside, there is a little cover to pop off and 2 phillips screws behind that. then pop off the reflector on the bottome corner of the door and there is one phillips screw behind that. then pop off the sail panel with the tweeter and u can let it hang there. then pull starting at the bottom area of the door to pull the push-clips out all the way around the door and up both sides. after that u just lift the whole panel up and out of the groove by the window, unhoonk the wires going to the switches and carry the panel away.

u should only need a phillips and a flat blade screw driver.

hate to intercept a thread, but any1 know of some good (fairly cheap) speakers that can withstand being blasted at ridiculous volumes well?

edit: 4x6 for the front doors

I'd pull out the grinder and make the hole big enough to fit a 5.25 - 6.5 speaker.. make a nice wood baffle that screws in and you'd be good to go.

IIRC it can't be super deep mount though because of the window in the way or something though. Correct me if I'm wrong though!

even with a spacer you cannot have a speaker deeper than 2" 1/8" from the mounting surface. If you do either the surround will touch the back side of the door panel or the magnet will get hit by the window. Not much room in there.

u will be much more satisfied if you put in 5 1/4 speakers. i had 4x6 fronts for a while and i thought they were good, but now that i put my 5 1/4 ones in tonight i was wrong. it sounds much better. all i took me was a pair a adaptors i order from ryan cause i was too cheap to make my own, they worked great and everything fits good.

i would love to do that but i dont have the funding to purchase a kit for it and i dont have the know-how to make my own : (

i used to think it would b expensive too but its not. use a lil piece of scrap plywood or fiberboard. and stack layers thick enought to get space fromt eh window when it rolls down. u might b able to find another set of brackets for sale sometime in the bazaar if u don't wanna do it ur self, i got mine for $20 used.
