I've just done my second oil change since I aquired a 2003 Alero. The owners manual states it uses 5 quarts. After changing the filter and filling it up with 5 quarts, I run the engine (on level ground) and check the dip stick, and it's about half a quart low. I let it sit for a few minutes and it's still shows a half quart low. I added a half quart and now it shows full. So my question is, does everyone/anyone else have to put in 5.5 quarts at oil changes or is just my car?

Yeah its weird I know. I think the manual says 5.8 quarts, but my 02 only takes 4 and a half. I'd say that as long as you have between 4 and 6 quarts in that engine, you will neither starve nor drown.
