Since I've upgraded my speakers, I've noticed I have "hums" coming from my door panels/gauge pod.

Clearly, its wires vibrating against metal.

I know I should get dynomat to fix that... but frankly.. that stuff is too damn expensive. Whats a good, cheaper alternative to simply stop wiring from vibrating against metal/plastic?

i've heard foam duct insulation works, but i'm thinking as soon as my car gets warm it'll stick.. but then during the colder months, it'll shrink and fall off.

suggestions?

They have spray foam insulation in spray cans at walmart or hobby shops

yeah... little too much for simply insulating wires. i want something spongy... not great stuff. that turns rock hard after an hour or so

Haha...yeah I would think something you want would be like the multicolored recycle foam that you get from upholstery stores. You can cut it with a blade or an electric knife works great. Some cars have a thin layer in them already

then how would i get that to stay in place? i'm guessing hot glue might.... but depends on weather again. i think that'd crack and fall off...

silicone might work.. but its expensive..

how much would a shop charge for a full dynomat job? just for a baseline, so i know how much i should spend.

and for secondskin... what product would i use for such a thing?

Shops dont generally like/want to do sound dampening. Its hella labor intensive.

I would get 20 Sq ft and a set of speaker tweekers and install it yourself. Its rather easy, just time consuming.

There are lots of quality sound deader brands you can use depending on your budget. I would look at RAAMAT, secondskin, and FatMat.

And 20sqft is only for the doors??

I think 20 should do ya. You may want to double check though.

Remember our doors have a alot of hollow to it. Unless your doing the inside of the outside door sheet metal...
