need line output converter from the rear speakers.... heard they work like crap.
imo, get a cheap deck and do it right. you'll be happier. (and probably save money)

yeah, doesn't sound that good at all. when i was 16 and got my subs i rigged something up to do the same thing in my explorer. you're much better off getting a cheap head unit.

Actually they work pretty well. Did this to my friends Grand Am with 2 Rockford P1s. Sounded great. She was on a budget and really liked her monsoon factory headunit.

line output converters.
short RCA wire
Subs
Box
Amp (appropriate for the subs)
Preferably 2 L brackets and 4 screws. (to hold the box down. discourages theft, and prevents it from sliding around/riping out wires)

how does the output converters get installed? like i said im not familiar with this a all..
and how do i know amp size?
cherrington17

to be safe, amp wise... find out the RMS power of the sub, and get your amp about the same level, if not a little smaller.
and Line output converters, convert your speaker line from your rear speaker, to RCA output jacks.

Buy the line out converter, then you will need to run a wire from your ignition to the remote wire on the amp. Just google it

loll stoopidalero i didnt understand that haha
is this a hard project or like an hour or two thing
cherrington17
02-10-2009, 09:37 PM
you run a line from your ignition power wire, to the REMOTE on the amp.
this turns on your amp, when the car turns on. instead of it being on all the time, and killing your battery in a day or so.

Dont buy that crap.
If you INSIST on keeping your stock head unit get the David Navone NE-7V.
http://davidnavone.com/cart.asp?24&cat=7
Its $20 and its a professional LOC.
Also you will notice installation instructions right there on the site.

what you guys think about ma audio 6x9's?
Ryan from Ohio

I think they suck.
How about a nice set of 5.25" speakers for the front- where it matters?
;)

Hehe, I have a $3 LOC in my Aurora :P
MY friend has the scosche one.. honestly I can't say it sounds terrible, but I suppose I've never heard a professional one.
One thing you can look for is an amp with a "hi input". All amps have "lo input", which is for RCA cables, but "hi input" allows the amp to accept a high voltage signal, like the kind the speakers get. It'll have the same 6 wires (2 per speaker that get tapped into, and 2 grounds, if needed).
It's basically an LOC built into the AMP. Kind of handy, Iv'e used them on amps before and enjoy them.

i need 6x9's along with my 4x6's because they are all blown
so what 6x9's would give good low end bass sound like the factory monsoon?
not a high treble only sound

You don't need 6x9s.. take em out.
Also, don't buy 4x6s.. but in some nice 5.25s or 6s instead.

what would i use for rear speakers then? im not a rap music fan so i wouldnt really fully desire a full system lol

A properly designed box/sub combo will give good tight bass that's great for rock and such, so no need for 6x9s.
A 6 inch component set will give you midbass from the 6's and high from the tweets.
As long asthe equipment is quality it'll sound much better than stock.

Why don't you want a sub now? Wtf was the point of this thread? lol
You're NOT going to get more bass than stock without amping 6x9s. Get some Type X, JL, other high end equipment 6x9s on an amp and you'll be producing some pretty good bass... the key is to give them more power.

get good 5.25 fronts. remove the back speakers. save for a sub and amp. 6x9s don't add much at all. a sub will. go with a sealed box.
