Did you buy the GM adapter? I just cut all the wires and wired it up by hand.

ya i bought the GM adapter and the thing still goes off. the only reason im askin is because the guy i bought the car from broke part of the key off in the ignition so the key cylinder thinks theres a key in it still and when the door is open the door chime never shuts off...very annoying when you need the door open for an extended period of time

Remove the adapter, connect the necessary wires to your HU and you're gtg. You dont need the adapter.

I thought so too, when I was doing my stereo. Except Best Buy wanted to charge me almost $100 for it. One thing: you'll have to run a wire from your ignition power to the ignition power wire on the HU, or connect it to 12v constant and remove the face plate to turn off your stereo. You'll also lose the thing where it keeps your stereo on for x minutes or until you open the door.

bad idea... that chime box controls your airbag release :S... so no airbags without that chimebox
