Hi, I'm almost done with the triple gauge pod in my center console, the only thing left is to prep and paint it. You can see that the gauges are a little angled by the driver side so that I can see them better.
Let me know what you think !!!!!!!!!!!

Looks good dude!

Ive been waiting for it to warm up a bit until I start playing with fiberglass, I don't really have a good area to do it without stinking everything up. Center vent will start once its warmer. I may be interested in making/buying one of those, how much went into making it timewise?

costed me like 80$ CAD of material and took maybe 10 to 15 hours right now.
I did not really calculate my time spent on my car because it is like that I'm always working on something... lol

I got that triple gauge piece from Z1 motorsport it is a 300zx parts/performance site, it is originally made to fit the center vent into the 300sx dash.
It was a tight fit because when I had cut my center console to make this fit, it almost broke in two piece there was like only 1/4 of plastic on each side...

looks good. I like how you kept the cubby hole, i got rid of mine when i did my duel gauges. you should vacume mold it in fiberglass. may be as an overlay for the stock trim (carbon fiber FTW)

it would be nice if the heater controls were seperate souldnt it ? its a pain in the ass, keeping them looking good.

malibu heater controls work in the alero if you wanta switch them out, (i have a few of them for cheap ;) cough.......cough......plug )

yeah I was wanting to keep the cubby hole, in my opinion I prefer the alero stock heater control .... for the mold I do not have the skill to do vacuum molded fiberglass....

What kind of paint did you put on this? it looks like its not even painted, like on stock parts! lol

first remember that this is all plastic, so it is still flexible and won't crack, no silly fiberglass here... Firts I had to coat it with an adhesion promoter, next is build primer, sand it 320 then 400 grit to be flawless then wash it with plastic and leather prep. Finally I used 3 coats of trim black....
It is important to sand to 180 grit all where it's gonna be painted before you put adhesion promoter so the build primer stick to it....

you willin to do more like this for some other Aleromodders ????

guiguilandry
03-12-2009, 11:51 AM
yeah but this is not gonna be under 175$ because it is a custom piece and takes like a week to do because I can't do all that at home, I have to go at a friend bodyshop, I don't even have a garage at my house, yes yes you read right I made my swap entirely outside, wiring and all welding etc.......
And on top of that you have to hope that it won't be damaged during the shipping.....

I only know about half of what your talking about:blink::blink::blink::blink::blink::blink: Is there a website I can go to learn such info as plastic and leather prep, and adhesion promoter?? And that's some damm fine work there, would be nice if you could offer to sell them...

Really there is no website that I know to tell how to do custom work, you wont get any experience by reading, you have to do it for real.......
You really just have to know with what material you are working and how to build things.
Do not get limited by what the people tell you, believe me every single person around me was against the idea of modding that car, especially the engine swap....
People can't imagine how many hours went onto the build of this car...
Not just the ''working time'' but the YEARS of getting all the infos and hint...
It also helps to have a friend that have his own bodyshop too.... lol

I say that i could do it but no way under 175$ plus shipping it takes like 40 hours to build to get it perfect and cost like 100-110$ of material... so even at 175$ it is cheap and I dont think I would do it again, I built my car to be the only one like that.....

Anyway If someone want this to be done ask to bdyman how much he would sell this... hell even if he would do this......

thanks bro.. I figured out the few things I know about bondo and fiberglass from actually buying the stuff and trying it out... But I have nothing to show for it ot than an uncompleted gauge pod Idea for a chevy s-10...:( oh well I dont even have the s-10 anymore....

heres 2 better pictures of the dash, with some other things that I made today

The kit needs a little love, but anyway It will be customized too.
I will fill the holes on the front bumper both lower and upper one, I will straighten the lower portion of the front where it's a little higher in the middle to get the same height than the sides portions.
For the rear i will fill the 2 big holes do some sort of recessed backup lights (remember my trunk is shaved) and I will box it in the middle to put my license plate in there.....

Hay I've got some core's if you need to make molds for these gauge pods, that's if you decide to I think you said you wouldn't but either way I have two extra's

if you want send them to me... I will do them on the spare time....but I already said that it won't be cheap if you wanna buy them once they are made..... I promise no deadline because I won't be able to finish in time....
