Well, i have a '99 black GLS coupe.... and when i bought it, it had to have been in a frontal collision, and the hood is faded and has the famous hood paint chipping....., now, remember my red alero? with that funny white paint thing on the bumper? well the spoiler is all that... its all faded and stuff, also the roof has a small rust hole in it and the passenger side lower quarter panel right above the side skirt... is a rotted hole... so, so have all these imperfections repainted, how much would this run meh? (a rough estimate)

plzthankskbai

Expensive prolly.

match/paint..
-hood
- bumper
- spoiler
-roof
-quarter panel

fix rust
-hood
-quarter panel

That sounds like quite a bit of work, plus matching, plus blending... you'll be spending a good bit to get qulity repairs for all that.

Ahh, well that'll cut down quite a bit then. Still plan for a decent hit in the wallet.

it is impossible to get a price on painting over the internet, you have to go to shops and actually ask around.

when I asked this body shop about getting my corolla painted, they told me it would be $3000 without body work. If any rust or body work had to be done, it would go up depending on how much needed to be done... They are good too from what I hear... They actually paint everything... like engine bay and all.

oh and if you want you interior painted, I could help! I know what NOT to do. haha and that is to NOT paint it..... and I learned the hard way. :(

most of her is back to normal, minus a piece in the back and the passenger door.... trim pieces are also still blue.... And that blue in the pic is actually a lot darker... that was just my flash making it really light...

oh and here's the door.... some of it is gone, but most of it is still there.... ugh..... I hate myself.....

i dont care if you prep it your self or not, that makes it worse on us, becasue if you have imperfections that you a inexperienced person did then iam redoing what you did, if you use some cheap ass bondo u buy from wall mart forget it!! more money more money
then i would have to spend at least a good day removing everything, re doing what you did, at least 2-3 days for that then primer, block and prep car, your looking at least a month for a complete

i personally would up the price becasue your bringing me a car that iam going to have to go ver and fix what you did and remove everything
doing what you want, starting price would be 6,000, and thats not including the front end damage
to much for ya then go to macco, you will see the difference

6k is really high? dealer did my friends Bird for like 2k and they painted it from white to all black, every were door jams engine bay etcs, looks emaculent. And it didnt take em a month eiter. ill try and see if i can get pics. But just search around for what you need/want/afford. Some people can do it alot faster and better for less, everyone is out to make money and its gotta be on ur time schedule because ur the customer.

i dont give a crap, i work at my own pace, and that is dirt cheap around here, body labor here is 65 an hour so is paint time, just becasue its dealer work doesnt mean its been touched by the hand of god himself
trust me i have redone SOOOOOO many dealr jobs i cant even count on both my hands, and do you have a trained eye??? do you know what your looking for?? i highly doubt it
was the entire car stripped down,, just a shell??was it?? was it???
your going to get the quality from a tech that will take his time and make the car perfect, dealer body shops hack`n whack the car out, there is no quality its all abouit money its all about how many booked hours do i have this week
so dont post about your buddies 2k paint job if i looked at iam sure i would pick it apart becasue i know the crappy quality, so please just stop please

well you obviously dont know jack!!, yes 6k in my land as its called gets you quality, do you guys really think material is free? labor is free?? its not just a "paint job" its body work included, material included and paint time included
but hey if you can do a complete car i mean from start to finish for under 2k??? then you can call me what ever you want, but in the real world 2k is gonna get you crap, 2k is for material, ok including sand paper, and all the other material
if its so easy why dont you guys come work with me for a month and then tell me its cheap or iam nuts, damn!! iam sick of seeing crap like this sick of seeing "oh ya your high my buddy got his car painted for 2k" then the tech and the shop that did it is stupid and made no profit at all, especially at a dealership oh god!!!
no you spare me

lols, he is a smart guy, but to flame other people for telling the truth? and adding imput is real mature, but w.e its like killing people, you can either do it with the stick on the ground or u can take em out at 15,000 ft with a Jdam, wat do you think is cheaper? And no i wasnt saying i can do ur job, and tell you the truth i wouldnt want to work with you. But all im saying it was 2k for the paint job, why would i lie ?

03-04-2009, 10:08 AM
yea i would suggest you do what you can afford, you are gonna keep it the same color correct? cause if so from what i understand its generally cheaper to do that too. But then again i dont do body work or paint jobs, ive helped tape off my friends car and prep it with him, but actully paint it? neg,

why dont you guys come work with me for a month

I'd do it :ninja:
Lots of info to be learned most assuredly. I'd certainly gain more skills than just practicing by trial or error like how I do.

I don't know what a whole car would be, but to have my hood refinished (stripped to bare metal and completely redone) was $1000. To get a decent job, I'd expect upwards of $3000 for the whole car.
Chris' quote of $6000 would be for a very nice job......show car paint jobs (done professionally) can run upwards of $20,000.
