Well, I put new rotors on Alero and I noticed the hat is rusting some which is normal here where I live. Anyway I was looking on the net about the best way to paint the rotors without getting any paint on the friction surface and I ran across this site. http://mike.clubgp.com/brakes/ Looks like this guys just painted the whole thing and drove and the pads just scrubbed all the paint off the surface.... Has anyone else ever tried this and lived to tell about it?

Oh gawd!!
yea he deserves the dumbass award but there have been much worse.
to paint he rotors do this, get some cardboard or sumthing and cut out a hole big enough to fit the center hub, now but the carboard over the rotor, paint/sand/paint/sand untill it gets flat and nice the way you want it.
Its ok to have a lil paint on where the brake surface is because itll burn it off, but DO NOT paint the entire thing or else dont expect to stop and if you do luickily stop expect a fire from within after the heat starts catching the paint

That ranks #2 on the dumbest things i've ever seen done to brakes list. That guy prolly killed someone or himself. #1 is when i went over to friends house after he had finished changing his pads and had sprayed the stuff you put on the back of the pads (forget what it's called at the moment) all over his rotors, backed out of his driveway and couldn't get it to stop till in was in the yard across the street.
