View Full Version : Pre & Post Intrax Pictures
OK here are some comparison pics for all those who wanna see the difference in ride height that Intraxx ALERO springs will do for ya. I got them installed on monday -- so dude at RSM racing said it would take a cpl of weeks to settle completely.. but he guesses 1/4" more drop tops.
Car specs: 2000 GX, 2.4cyl auto.

thanks to both of you...I love before and after comparisons. That may help us decide what springs to buy.

It still seems that Springtech gives the greatest drop. There's almost zero fender gap on my car, especially since I just put brand new tires on. That contributed another 1/4" of tire to get rid of the gap.
Both cars look good. I just can't stand how high the Alero sits stock. That makes it dummy and grandma proof.

i had a question, how hard is it to get a jack underneat the car after you have lowered it.......do u guys just jack up one side get stand under it then do get the middle or what........thats one of the only things thats been holding me back, because i like to do all my own stuff...........

jacking the car is no problem if u have patience for the first time..once u find out where u can slide ur jack in, it's all the same...

after Sprint Performance ( i know this thread was about Intrax, but we're comparing so figured we could compare to these 2 companies too)
No Problem for the post!! See I was looking for this type of information before I decided on what springs to get and it was very time consuming doing my research. I also asked a billion ppl through PM for pics of their car once i found out they had a certain spring.. got some pics... not a lot from them.. so to make all your lives easier.. thought it would be helpful.
<perhaps this thread should be in product reviews???>
When i was deciding on my springs, I compiled pictures of ppl's cars with the different springs.. i'll post it but if i offend any of the car owners in the pics -- plz realize i was doing this just for myself and if u want me to take the pic offline just tell me i'll do it -- and on that note thanks to all those who's car's are in my helper pic.
the picture is 500kb -- so i wont embed the image -- here is the link:
Intrax vs H&R Springs Comparison (http://members.rogers.com/sameer.bhalla2/springs.jpg)
Ride Quality:
-- i took the major hit in ride quality when i went from stock 15s to 225/45/17s... so when i dropped the car (which was after i installed the rims) .. i only additionally felt a small decrease in ride quality..
oh and since i used stock struts -- there is a creeking coming from the rear springs when i go over speed bumps at a slightly moderate speed... but music is easily able to drown it out :)
How bout yer Ride Quality 2000_olds? i like your drop btw :) but i think at that drop.. i personally think the ride qual wud degrade too much for my liking.. but to each their own!

we know a chick with sprint/springtechs, but I dunno anything at all about that company. Good god, though...the drop looks awesome. How is ride quality now and do you have any alignment problems?
Actually TRM -- that's one of the reason's I didnt' go with Sprint/SuspensionMax or whomever they are cuz like.. they just have a website.. and it doesnt' seem they resell to any major parts distrubutor in the US (ferget Canada).. so like just seems like a non-established company imho.
Alignment -- i got it aligned with the install -- but it's pulling to the left for some odd reason... gonna get it checked with the very helpful dudes at RSM racing.

a2k: I have a creaking coming from the back of my car as well. It's a bushing but I don't know which one, and I have the stock suspension and wheels...

I guess that all established companies started out un-established. :D
hahah SMARTASS! haeheaheah yer rite though -- last time i took a *chance* with a mod i wasn't too sure about - i got burned.. so i guess i decided to take the safer route with the intrax..
burned: put a magnaflow race series straight through muffler wiht 4" tip on my car -- noone else had.. so i thought id be the first blah blah blah -- holy crap i got headaches on my way to work.. not so fun... sounded amazing though.. but just way way to loud/resonated in the cabin.

haha, i forgot about this! i used a floor jack at the shop.... lowered the front, and then couldnt get the jack out!!!! i had to lift up on the front fender and pull it out with the other hand. it was great. made me feel like i made a good purchase.
i have the sprint springs though. i'll take some measuring tape pics of the drop, but obviously cant take any before with the measuring tape.
oh, and for those who want the sprint/spring tech link... it's here (http://www.suspensionmax.com/smshopcarpick.asp?CarModel=OLDSMOBILE&CarType=196). and free shipping on the sprint makes them cheaper than the spring tech.
the sprints offer a good drop (probably the lowest i've seen) and are really stiff... not great for bumps though, but i'm upgrading my struts soon.
Last time i checked -- if you want GRANDAM Intrax springs from Summit -- ETA is July 10. Keeping in mind that they've been on backorder since March. and every month, the up the ETA date by a month.. just to let you know...
dun no about the ALERO intrax springs though...

honestly i couldnt tell you. as far as i know they are 2 different companies, i bought the sprint basically cause i didnt know if anyone had them, and because they were more expensive (i know, more expensive isnt always better, but with free shipping they were actually cheaper) and i love the drop.
(this picture was a day or two after, the front has settled a little since)

i'll take a measurement pic of the "after" phase, too late for the before, unless i do cutelilcntrygrl's for her, if she ever orders them....
but tomorrow i'll get after pics.
they ride really firm in comparison to stock, but i cant say i've driven an alero with the eibach's or other.
they take bumps horribly, and i mean horribly, that tells me they're really firm, i just need new struts now.

kentucky.
most roads are fine.. but if there is road work or potholes, it hurts. haha. dirt roads arent too great either. but some gas struts should help alot.

Anyone done a comparison between the Sprints and the Springtech's? ( drop and ride quality, not price-wise ) This is definately coming up soon on my "to-do" list.

awe, bunny. I didn't even notice it on this thread, I've seen it in others, but oh well.... :D lmao thanks man.
hmmmm. Sprints or Intrax, Sprints or Intrax.....the prices are within $50.00, and the drop is comparable too ;) just no horror stories about Intrax's ride....makes me wonder if the extra $50..0 is worth it though, because unless it's a progressive-rate spring like Eibachs, the ride's GOTTA be pretty close.....

Pretty cheap price, but I'm kinda leary of them SpringTech struts....
