Yeah, I've been lucky so far, it's one thing that's taken for granted till it goes out. It's survived so far mainly because there is a huge power loss at this altitude, estimate it gets about 235-250 WHP up here. Until last year I always detuned it when travelling down to sea level. To duplicate the power seen at sea level would take about a 50-75 shot of nitrous, which I might do.
I'd like to see it run a 12.xxx before it's put out to pasture......

Thanks, but don't use me as a role model
I have a terrible time getting things out of the prototype stage.

At the track I run full line pressure and get better shifts, but normally it's pretty rare to have to let it upshift 2-3 on the street or highway at full throttle.

Awesome! How much boost you running? It peaked out at about 10-12. The video lost a lot of resolution for some reason when uploaded to YouTube. I think I'll try photobucket next time.

A scoop is a necessity, with all the extra mass of metal under the hood, but you might like the first version of it better, painted black. Anybody got a '69 Hurst/Olds scoop laying around? I thought about making a smaller version of that one.

Ya I really hate the scoop too. Gotta be another way to do something since your intercooler and radiator aren't cooling to the capacity you need.

Agreed with the scoop, but your car has the power and speed to back up something like that.
Lots of torque steer, good luck with that tranny. I used to launch at 2750 RPMs which is what blew up my tranny, now I only launch at 1000

Stock stall speed of the converter is 1800, anyway... at least on the 4T40E. Launching higher would be a hinderance and as you found out, an extreme strain.

That is quite a bit of boost. Are you planning on working on your engine next, or should the 3400 be able to handle this?

a stock 3400 can handle that much if your tune is good and you take care of it, pretty sure greag has 200+ 1/4 passes and counting with the original motor and tranny.....

3400 has forged rods stock

1800?!?!? Wow I thought it was only 1300!
The car launchs better at 1000 than at 1250 anyway ;)

It has nothing to do with the intercooler or radiator. It's the location of the supercharger.
