Well, I'm sprayin.

http://www.fquick.com/images/vehicles/full/5012244326.jpg

Methanol, that is. Well, technically Blue Coral -20° windshield washer fluid since I couldn't find any local methanol too quickly. It's 35% methanol 65%ish water. Good enough.

Yes, spraying water into my engine! zomg hydrolock! Heheh.

Also installed some seats. Most pain in the ass tedious thing I've ever done on this car. Takata harnesses (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h152/HOUSEOFSUFFERING/normalmichellecarreracakz9.jpg) go on next week if all goes as planned.

Does that meth spray kit really makes a difference? I gotta maybe consider that on the long run.

i think i've asked before.... but i can't remember. is there any easy way to replace the seat belts themselves with a different color?

i'd like black seat belt straps... but i don't want to dye the current ones.. incase it bleeds out of the fabric... i/passangers end up with 2 black lines across their clothing = fail.

how much did those seats run? ... for the pair?

[ion] C2
03-26-2009, 03:45 PM
@cherrington17: Not really... working at Takata I know the seat belt assemblies are annoying as hell to work with. I mean, you could probably do it, but I'm not familiar with the retractors and disassembly/reassembly capabilities. The seats were like $320 I think... I got them used over 6 months ago, they retail for $250 each I think.

@Vinalero: Roots blowers live off meth... I haven't done anything since I've installed it really besides one pass of tuning. Need to tune once more to get the AFR dialed in perfectly and then I can do a 0-60 run and then the quarter mile next week.

i wouldn't trust its safety if it was disassembled and reassembled anyway. so i wonder if the whole thing comes out and can be replaced with something different.

what would be the point of redoing an interior.. and still have seatbelts that dont' match at all????

Of course you do... newb. Well the retractors you have to add mounting plates, but with the Takatas you secure the upper two belts to the existing rear seat buckle bolts, and the front side belts to the existing belt bolts.

your mounting your restraints to something that will also be moving in the accident? pretty dumb. seatbelts are suppose to be anchored to rigid points. like our B pillar is, and roll cages are.

all those 4 points do is give the appearance of safety.. while not really adding anything.

What? They are. What did you miss? You connect the 4 point harnesses to the existing mounting locations. How did you come up with the blanket statement of all four point harnesses aren't any safer? Did you work at Takata or Autoliv or TRW?

Yep, meth lowers your AFR by about 1.3-1.5 as far as I've seen, so a car tuned to be at 12.0 will be at 10.7. If I tune (like I have) to target 11.8, and run out of meth, the AFR will jump to almost or at 13s, and also the spark timing may be advanced too much for normal fuel and cause detonation. So you just make sure you have enough in the tank.

But not the "max pressure" which is set to 90 for stock, right?

The 2001 program I use has base pressure table settings higher in first gear than the stock 1999 program, but the trannys were upgraded in later years, I believe. I keep it stock and leave the torque management in, too, but switch it to max pressure via a terminal at the PCM (for racing only). For some reason my tranny does not like tweeks to those tables, so I gotta go with what works, while it works.

what the fuck are you talking about, the 45 has a higher torque rating than the 40, the 40 was for the 4 cylinders the 45 was for the v6. meaning the 45 is capable of higher torque.....these trannys cant handle 325 torque stock... i dont know wtf your talking about

the 4T45E has pulse width modulated torque converter locking where the 40's were a solenoid actuated on/off setup.

According to the Hayes SM, the 40 has 200 lb ft of torque and the 45 has 215 lb ft rating

Why Adam Hahn can run 10.58 @ 139MPH with a stock F23 (clutch/flywheel changed, otherwise stock) that also has a torque rating of only around 145 lb-ft is beyond me. Or Acer (http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=48&i=19634&t=19634&p=1)'s 12 second stock 4T40E car.

GM Powertrain Automatic Transmission Information (http://media.gm.com/division/2004_prodinfo/powertrain/automatic/index.html)
Maximum gearbox torque: 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) (MN4)

4T40E Breaking Point (http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=41&i=26191&t=26191)
The only person I know to kill a 4T40E is Rick King.... he put over 700 passes with nitrous on that 97 Z24 though before it broke... and the only reason it broke was he threw a 100 hp progressive nitrous shot at it.... (nothing new)... but that time, he did it with slicks.... BAM... dead.

I'll keep enjoying my 193,000 mile solid shifting tuned 4T40E. Sorry, it just tends to be stronger than the 4T45E, regardless of what Haynes says, more failures and slippage occur with the 4T45E as far as I can tell.

C2;447313']If you click my signature, it brings up my FQuick, which shows all current and future modifications as well as all images I have. I don't think anyone knows that.
Maybe you could put Click my picture for my mods in bold right above your sig picture, that way people would know where to find that stuff out.

Just a friendly suggestion :thumb:
