View Full Version : Aftermarket Oil Filter Ring Leaking ?

I've done about 8 oil changes on the ecotec so far, and replaced the oil filter O-ring every other time... Problem is, I try to buy the AC delco filters, but the AC delco filter does not come with a new O-ring. So I buy aftermarket brands every other time to get a new O-ring, but the last 2 have been leaking.

Anyone else had this same problem? What brand oil filter comes with a good O-ring?

I have changed the O ring only once. Usually I get the o reillys filter. I think its called microsomething. I only changed the o ring the first time, and havent changed it since. Still no leaks.

I don't recall changing mine either. However there is a part number for the oil filter with the whole cap from ACDelco.

ACDelco # PF458G

GM # 12605565

Took the filter off, hosed the filter cover with brake cleaner to clean the threads, cleaned the ring and put it back on, this time dry without priming the ring. Still leaks.

I guess thats what I need to get. Thanks
