hello everyone...
i drive on the highway alot with my car... and find that my back starts hurting after a hour or two of driving...
so i was thinking about looking for some leather seats to install in my car... i know the gls version came with 6 way adjustable power seats in leather... not sure if they still did the fold down thing...
anyways... are the leather ones comfier? or would i beable to swap seats from another vehicle (if leather preferably a heated one)
and the back middle seat is also rather hard... would leather seats help that?

I'd make sure that your lumbar support is turned all the way down, because that pos absolutely kills my back. I couldn't figure out what was doing it at first, when I could hardly walk after getting out of the car... It was that cheap stupid lumbar support.

sry to bash i dont dont see how leather would help at all, heat might, they have pads you can buy for car seats that will do the same thing as a heated seat, why go thourgh all that trouble and money for leather with wears, cracks, and gets so hot in the sun

If his seats are messed up, maybe he is just thinking, "I might as well go leather". Leather looks classier than regular fabric which rips and tears as well. Also, with leather, if you use a conditioner, you dont run as much risk of it cracking. But anyways (to the op) Alero seats are probably all the same. I think mine also adjust six ways and its not a GLS and they are fabric. So leather wont really make a difference comfort-wise. The leather is just a cover over a regular alero seat.

leather and cloth both have their pros and cons. im pretty sure leather and cloth both have the same style stitching but compared to my brother's cloth seats in his alero, my leather seats feel softer.

Although everyone has vastly different opinions on which seats are comfortable and which ones aren't (I liken it to trying on shoes....), it is my firm stance that the only GM product to have comfortable, supportive seats was the '04-'07 Pontiac GTO.
Yes, even the seats in the almighty Corvette ZR1 are embarrassing.

They should. I'm planing on trying it, but I don't think the color matches, the Taupe anyway

I personally like the seatsof the Cobalt SS. I have a certain setting in the Bravada but after a while I get sore and agitated. Try bringing the seat up or lay it back. Lumbar makes a difference, either good or bad.
Moral of the story: change positios after a while.

i don't think the gp's back seat will fit, but the fronts should as long as they're from a 2 dr

Would the GTO seats fit?
My driver's seat is showing wear as it would in a 9 year old car with 1043xx mile on it ;)

any one look into the grand prix seats... had a friend with a grand prix... i think his seats were softer... and i think you can get heated leather seats... sure it wouldn't be hard to wire up... just the bolting down part...

Hey does anybody know if front leather seats from a 2006 pontiac G6 GT would work in my 2002 Alero?? Just wondering cause ive got a chance to get all the seats for $300.00

300 is to expensive. Save your money they arent worth that.

Ok but just for futur refefence,do the g6 seats fit mine at all or no?
sleepyalero

You'd have to custom mount the front im sure. Electric controls would have to be custom wired im sure. Rear seats most likely not.

Ah ok nevermind then lol. I just ran across some really nice black leather front and back seats and i thought,hmmm... i wonder if those would fit. Lol!! But oh.well. what other seats will interchange with mine?? My front seats are pretty beat down and very uncomfortable

I believe GT grand am seats are swapable. Other then that, start investigating or get some racing seats.
02AleroGLS
07-21-2013, 09:56 PM
Yeah i found some grand am gt seats about 70 miles away from me but they were rediculous priced in my opinion.. They were wanting $350.00 just for the 2 front seats and they were cloth seats. But other then that i cant find any that are even kind of local so the shipping is ungodly..

07-21-2013, 11:50 PM
Yeah those seats shouldnt be that much period lol.
02AleroGLS
07-22-2013, 12:02 AM
There is a guy here locally that said he could redo all of the padding in my front seats and recover them in any fabric or for $250.00 so i may just do that.

GP seat will not fit, they are a wider seat because the W body is a wider car. GA seats do fit, but I don't think the GA colors are an exact match to the Alero's colors. The gray seems darker and the taupe is very dark. In fact, I don't even think the GA color is Taupe.
Any seats for the Alero and GA at this point are going to need recovering, I say head to the local junkyard, pull the seats, have them recovered, and have a nice day ;)

07-23-2013, 08:39 PM
Well the problem is where i live the nearest junk yard that has any Alero's/Grand am's is over 70 miles away and they are wanting between $350-$500 for just front seats. I'm not quite that rich lol!!

Low mile wrecks?
I've seen the seats in the junkyards here, not worth that kind of cash

Yeah people here think that gm parts are made of gold, even used parts! It's rediculous how much stuff cost..

Dennison, TX? If you don't mind a day trip, here's a web site with possible cars in Texarkana / Shreveport / Bossier (Shreveport is approx. 225 miles - about what I would drive to Dallas from here!) .. http://www.uautopullitautoparts.com .
Set the inventory filters to the various brands and models car, and search for the appropriate years and colors. Also, check their price list.
Last I asked, "seat" is a bench or a pair of buckets ... so at $30/seat, it's $60 for the front and back. Get those recovered and you're STILL about what the used ones cost in Dennison!
Besides, they're not that hard to get out - what, two bolts at the back, rock them forward, unplug the power, and lift them out?
