just a quick question... is there enough space to mount a 6.5 speaker in place of the 4x6 in the front doors? I just bought a coupe and i'm wondering if there is enough metal to cut the speaker hole a bit bigger. Thanks!

Yes and no.

The speakers mount to a plastic bracket.

If you want to goto a different speaker size you will have to make your own baffle.

preferrably, a new door pod. like some of us are in the process of doing.

it has to be very shallow, like 2" max mounting depth or your going to be hitting the window crank ... and your spacer can't be too thick or the door panel doesn't go back on or even worse the door panel rests on the face of your speaker.

I have some ebay bought adaptors that I'd be happy to sell you, didn't use them, my speakers were too deep :(

and yes, pods are the way to go. Now if I only had 2 seconds of free time...

Trouble with pods is... If you make them to big you can open the glove box. Also they stick out further than the stock ones...

Pods rent a good thing now Im knee deep into a door...lol

ryan.. couldn't you just move your speaker in some? either deeper into the door, or back toward the passanger? ...or both?
