I have a single 40 series on 2.5 inch pipe and people tell me that it sounds like a V8, and I love the sound, it does get a little toney at times, but that is to be expected!

I have A Flow 40, but i have the 2.2 ecotec, even my exhaust has a drone to it with this muffler, and the tone is much much deeper than that of my freinds with the 2.2 eco and phartcans. I really like it. Turns heads :P
PPl are like "wtf is that noise that alero?" its great

are all Flowmasters stainless steel? i was looking through some and it doesn't specify wether they are SS or not.. don't want to get it and turn out they're almuminized.. also does it matter what part # i get? or are they all same?

Flowmasters are aluminized, but I haven't heard of anybody having any problems with rust, and I live in south Texas on the coast!

flowmasters are aluminized, however they will last forever, but the seams will develop surface rust, all you need to do is get some high temp clear coat

If the exhaust heat is @ 400 degrees, then why wouldn't that 550 degree stuff work?
Give that 550 degree clearcoat a try.....it's only 5-8 dollars a can, and what's the worst that can happen? it burns up and flakes off......

And no, they're not all the same: there are usually at least 3 variations of each series of muffler, and within those variations, different inlet/outlet SIZES.
For example, 3 different delta flow 40's, 3 different origional 40's, 3 different 80's, etc. etc.
The different numbers are for mufflers with different inlet/outlet locations and sizes. If you look under your car, try and picture a flowmaster muffler in there instead of the stocker, and that will help you determine where your inlet and outlet should be. Next is to determine what inlet and outlet size you will need......are you changing any pipes in front of the muffler? If not, I think the stock piping is 2".
hope this helps

I had flowmaster 40's on my old cougar for years and had no problems with rust, except where i'd bump them on the ground (bad suspension stuff) and to fix that I just spray painted them, never had any problems.

Hey '03......are you running a single 40? Any other exhaust mods? How's it sound? After I get my hands on a set of springs, and some tint, this sounds like the next mod for me......

They could mount it sideways if necessary.
