Leather Dash Repair

My dash has a pen-tip sized puncture in it. I was wondering if those kits like at Leatherworldtech (http://www.leatherworldtech.com/) really work.

If not this one, then one that would work well to patch the hole and looking for the most part seamless.

I'd hate for re-upholstering the dash to be my only option but I'll take whatever advice I get.

I hear that these things work well on vinal but not leather, but I pretty sure that the dash is vinal anyway
