I'm sure there is a good argument to be made for not dumping alot of time, effort and money into a high mileage vehicle, but I have several thousand dollars invested in parts for my 246k mile Alero, if I can ever manage to get around to installing any of it: complete new suspension, a bunch of stereo equipment, replacement interior, OSV bodykit (for what that's worth at this point). If I were smart I would probably sell it all now, while it's still new. But I still like my ho, so I'll move forward with it.

no idea
Mine had 166,000 when I bought it, now has 194,000.
I'd replace that Alero with a coupe. The sedans just don't look right.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!:cry:l ol But seriously keep the Alero. There is no reason a sedan can not look as nice as a coupe. There are plenty of nice looking sedans in this forum. As for the mileage, sure it has high mileage, but that does not mean the car can not look or sound nice. When the engine messes up fix it and if interested make it better.
This is what Id do: Remove pinstripe, claybar treatment, something with the headlights, then tints. That would look pretty nice, then you could start with the more hardcore modding (audio, performance, wheels, etc...)

you could have your engine rebuilt, and then go with either the supercharger package or do a custom turbo. the supercharger is easy because its practically a plug and play application.

You sound like a COMPLETE NEWBIE who has no idea what to do with an engine.
Check out Aleromod Upgrades... and www.j-body.org, quite a lot of the guys on there have the 2.4L LD9 and everything's pretty much the same.

i was thinkin about a turbo charger and a new exhaust but i dnt want a loud exhaust would that be possible and if i would rebuild my engine would i jus rebuild it or get a new one

Turbochargers make great mufflers... my exhaust is SUPER quiet.
You rebuild the engine using stronger parts.

wat u mean turbos make great mufflers and so it would be better to uses all after market parts when i rebuild it

He means your exhaust system won't be as loud with a turbo. If I was you I would take everyone's advice and steer clear of the Honda. With a Honda you'll lack originality unlike an Alero and I might not have a LD9 engine but I know for a fact that those can be built to rip just look at ion's car, a few other guys on this site and all the J-bodies with the LD9.

my two cents. wheels and stereo equiment can be used in other vehicles if your car dies, so enjoy in and love it for now

Just thought Id add that Aleros and Grand Ams are pretty much the same. Cavies, someone told me here they are just like 300 pounds lighter, and there are plenty of fast cavies with the 2.4 out there. So yeah the Alero does have potential, you just need to work with it. The easiest, as mentioned in this thread, would be the supercharger. Ion had one at a pretty high mileage, and did pretty well with it. Its around 1500 for this. If I were you, Id just go for this, and skip all the other little things. Once you get the supercharger, then work on the other stuff.

Just stir clear of fart cans, and my exhaust LOL. Your best bet is with one of the three choices. Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or Dynamax. That would be the ONLY three choices I put on my car, with the exception of the one that starts with an f, ends with r, and has lowmaste in the middle.
The thing is, you already KNOW that you have to start somewhere... Where do YOU wanna start. DONT let people build your car for you.

he has seen the light! we have another convert.
i'd go intake first. Gets you slightly better mpg. then exhaust. then save like crazy, cuz the next parts get pricey.

ummm..........do about 6 months of research and come back when you are a little more educated or do what I think you will end up doing anyways and sell the alero and convert to civics and stickers and fart cans......

Juice,
CosmoRacing is one of the more reputable intakes for our cars. I paid $90.50, shipped to my door in like 5 days. It attaches at the throttle body instead of on the crinkly hose. You even get your choice of color, red, blue, or silver. LOL
Just my two cents.

Check out cosmoracing.com I bought the WAI cause after researching the difference between the two, I have found out that there is only a .02% difference on the dyno.
