i will be tinting my tails very soon, and i just wanted to get some opinions on the different ways of doing it. i know most have used the night shades spray, but it seems that if you want it glossy, a clear coat must be sprayed over it. and also it may not turn out even, especially if you are not great at spray painting (which i am, so it doesnt matter that much). as for the tint film, that seems to be a much better way to get a consistant even tint over the entire surface, and get it glossy, but i have heard that it can turn purpleish or something, and may peel off over time. id just like to hear from people who have tried both ways to get a better idea what i will do. im most likely going to use the film since it will be quicker, and i dont have to special order it.(no local stores carry night shades because it is not legal in MA). thanks in advance.

well tint film is easy and removable but can lose color.
night shade is permanent and consistant.
i would try out the film.

Try the film. Its not really expensive anyways. To make it last longer, dont use alcohol based cleaners to apply it. A friend of mine uses a mixture of very little shampoo and water to apply tints.

only problem with the film is your gonna have to know how to heat shrink properly. the outer tailights are rounded. believe me, its something i've tried. i can tint flat windows no problem, but i couldn't get my tails.

The spray tint is perm? I thought it could be taken off with alcohol if there were mistakes?

i hadnt really thought about getting the tint to conform to the shape of the lights, damn...its not that expensive tho so i may try it out just to see how it works. if i screw it up i can always take it off and spray em. thanks guys.

i handled curves when i vyniled my truck with the camo trim by cutting a V in it carefully, that might be easier then heating
Well I sprayed my tails with night shades and busted one out today when I backed up into a truck... now I have to re-spray 1 tail and try to get it to match the other ones. The sticker will require less work to put on and you don't have to worry about matching the tone when you';re spraying on the edge or w/e

Tint film fades, too so that would depend on how long it's been on the car. You'd have to pull the vinyl off the remaining light clean off all the adhesive goo which is a PITA and retint both.
I had vinyl on my headlights and when you remove them they F up your lights. I've sanded and buffed them quite a few times with plastx and you can still see adhesive pull off patterns if you look at the right angles.

I did the spray, adjustable tint and very easy to remove (rubbing alcohol or gasoline).
