Ok, these questions are probably going to be a little more difficult so please only reply if you know what you are talking about. Anyways, my first question concerns the anti-lock braking system. A few months ago, I was driving out of Wal-Mart and my brakes made a funny sound and then a few seconds later, my anti-lock light comes on. It didn't happen again for a while but then recently, before the light came on, when I would go to a complete stop, my brakes seemed to slip and make a clicking noise and then the light would turn on. It did that for a few more weeks but now the light is on instantly when I start my Alero. Anyone ever had this sort of problem before and any ideas as to what this problem could be and how much it would cost to get fixed? My second question is about the A/C. It's not the system I'm concerned with, it's the light on the dash that turns the system on and off that is next to the rear defogger. The button doesn't light up at all when I have my lights on and when I push it to turn on my A/C, the LED light doesn't turn on to signal that the system is on and the system won't come on at all. I don't know what this could possibly be or if the guys who stole my stereo pulled out a wire while they were pulling out the radio. Any help at all would be great! Thanks for your time and patience everyone!

It's the anti-lock light and the "trac off" light at the same time

well, the little l.e.d in the button must of broke perhaps. you'l know when the A/C engages cuz you'l feel it through the engine. but if it bothers you that much, just take it out and look if any wire broke and such

also, to prevent some one steeling you stero again, super glue some nice razor blades in the back... hahha, sure they'l never steel another stero again

I have a set of HVAC controls if you need it.

I solved the problem with the A/C light from fidgeting around with it so now all I need to know about is the anti-lock brakes.

The ABS issue, first you need to get the car up and pull all the wheels and inspect the brakes. See how much pad is accually left.

Second Inspect all the wheel sensor wires and make sure none of them are damaged.

Third these cars are known for having wheel bearing issues, the ABS pickup ring is mounted in the bearing, if the bearing is failing or damaged (water, rust, grease) can cause the issue.

The clicking noise you most likely heard is the ABS pump, thats what keeps the wheels from locking up in a panic stop. If the pump is going or is bad, when the system self checks at startup will throw a code and set the light. Basicly its running in limp mode, you have no working ABS and no traction control with those lights illuminated.

abs and trac off mean wheel bearings... replace them, or until you hear the howling, ignore them
