View Full Version : LED Floor lighting, few bucks no skill

hey im looking for any recommendations on a led floor kit, like should i use strips or bulbs?
Has anyone done it this way, please post pics and results.
I'm figuring a kit is best for me, being i have no knowledge of resistors.
If someone like Cherrington wanted to prewire a kit with resistors and what not and sell it to me id be willing to work with them. By prewire i mean like a simple plug and play set up, one that would use the cigarette lighter source(i have hidden ones) and a wire i can put an on and off switch.

This looks like a cheap set. I wonder how good they actually work?
A comparable oznium set is $18+ shipping just for one strip

I did it, check my pictures on the link in my siggy. I got mine from Oznium (the piranha bars + a 4.7inch flex strip) and it looks amazing. I tapped into my cig lighter accessory on my console to power it all and I have a switch to control them.
What exterior color car you got? I HIGHLY recommend doing it. Let me know if you need any help/guidance.

Kiddo, you really need to stay away from eBay.
There was quality stuff on it around 8 years ago, but since then, unless it's a name brand, it's usually crap that people use to rip off stupid kids.
Go to a web site that has the stuff you want.
Spend more up front, trust me, you'll spend less ;)

which ones do you mean
this is hard and i realize the majority of ebay is crap but were talking all 4 for the price of one, 80's is just a lot for lights
i have no exterior colors, they're illegal in this county, so im planning to do them last, id rather get the interior really nice
i was going with a green theme in my car because those lights are overlooked usually but lack of a market of green things such as floormatts made me say screw it and go with blue

take a trip to wal mart or an auto prts store they normally have stuff like that... $15 latter and you won't hace to pay for shipping but your also getting ones that plug in.

You pay for what you get! Go ahead and buy the cheap ones, when you are replacing them 2 months down the road then you are going to be kicking yourself in the butt saying, "maybe I should have listened to them."

He was talking about the color of the outside of your car, WHICH IS WHITE!

Yes, you can! Go to autozone and get the 9" LED strips and then wire them in parallel and then plug them into your cigarette lighter. It REALLY is that easy!
Take a look at my pics, I have the footwells, lit up with Blue LED's. I have spent over probably 300 dollars in LED's and other non-essential lights.

^^^^^^^^^^ looks a lot like the inside of my car at night..... i went with streetglow and had all the tubes hook up to a control unit wired in my center console and worked great for me then only 3 nesecary wires to hook up for it to work, but i also have it wired into my alarm so i can turn it on with the keypad

Oznium's bars costed me $10 a piece + shipping = $20-$30 with tap ins and extra wire.
And I went green and it looks awesome...doing a black exterior car color with green lights everywhere (check siggy link, they're like the last photos I added so far). Look at smurf's if you wanna see what blue looks like.
Oh, and I meant what color is your car? I base lights off of my car's paint color.

then why spend money on cheap lights that you dont need that most likely will crap out on you? then youll have to buy, and spend more money. id say just wait til you have the money to get quality materials then go for it. just my opinion tho.

buy the quality lights or make your own lighting arrangements. Oznium sells some decent stuff and the quality is good. Haven't had an issue with the the ones I bought.

With a white exterior you could really go with any color...or EVERY color, get Oznium's million color for everything, lol. I highly suggest going with Oznium, they're relatively cheap and their stuff's GREAT quality (durable and lasting).
I'd personally go with a million or a red color scheme with a white exterior. I think blue would also work.

im talking putting them along the bottom of the seats so the floor there is lit, lights along the top of the windshield would make it hard to see out the rear at night wouldnt it?

Yes it would I already have a problem with just the lights reflecting off the window but now I just usually leave them off except for show.

And they cover meal plan too :D. But anyway, back on topic...I think I might be pulling my console apart again tomorrow to put in the last 2 interior lights I have left to do...for now at least. I also just got new pedal covers for like $18, and they look pretty cool, especially at night with the footwell lights.

ok theyre here, you wouldnt believe how bright they are, not spoting too, but the wire is so thin and crappy its not funny
but anyways if i cut into the wires for the cubby light, using one as a positive and one as a negative will it work, i figure thatd be best since it has a dimmer
so far ive tested them with a radioshack cigarette lighter adapter thign

yes, you can use the wiring to the center cubby, as the power for floor lighting.
its how most of us have done it.

thanks cherry, i figured you would know, is there a way to make the dimmer come on during the day so i can position the leds or do i need to wait till night to position them
