Had some fun with my car today...mostly 'cause I'm bored...
Went to the auto store and picked up a roll of some $15 tint film...since the tinting laws in MN are rediculous, I decided to just do something subtle on the back side windows.

I was amazed at how easy this was...It wasn't much different than putting on large waterslide decals for plastic model airplanes and I have a TON of those...I just made a template for the window and cut out the pieces...soapy water, slide 'em into position, squeegee out all the excess water and air, and tadaa! tinted windows...I could have prolly even gone a bit darker, but for $15 I have no complaints.
So that was fun...after sitting in my car for a while, I decided to add a little (JUST A LITTLE) flare to the inside, so I painted the little vents on the top-sides of the dash...JUST those two vents.

I've seen people catch alot of flack for painting the interiors, and too much color looks tacky IMO, but those little buttons of red kinda look cool, and they aren't terribly obvious. The paint job turned out marvelous as did the clearcoat. They seem very durable, but we'll give it a year or so and see what happens...worst case scenario is that I have to go to a junkyard and score a couple new vent covers...
Next week Ima put on some GAGT mirrors, and I am REALLY excited to do that.

Looks good, those were the first things I painted, but I didn't stop after that. Did you sand and wash?

Oh yeah! Washed, sanded, washed again...I paint alot of custom Transformers and model airplanes, so it was basically s.o.p....I rather enjoy painting stuff...esp. when it comes out really smooth and perfect!

Is that like a metallic tint?...weird...I'll stay with my 15% black Llumar :P.

Yeah its a slight mirror...it's called sterling silver. 20% reflectivity, 50% light transmission.
Ran a bunch of errands this afternoon, and after looking at it for a while, I suppose I could have gone darker, but it looks nice in the right light. I'm probably going to spend the next 3 weeks debating over this.

Nah man. You did exactly the legal limit, it looks fine, and you did it legit. Don't second guess yourself.

Servo,
For a noob with only 92 posts, It looks pretty damn good. The tint looks cool if you were to run the same tint all the way around; You could even put red Led bars on the inside (bottom) of the window and make it really shine. The painting the parts thing, quit while you're ahead. LOL
I painted the two little vents first also, now I have went and painted the radio bezel, the gauge bezel, and the shifter surround. LMAO

I agree with both the LEDs and the stop while you're ahead, lol.

LOL yeah...I started thinking about all the stuff on the dash that could be painted, but I think I'm good with how it is. All I really wanted with the little vent covers was a slight accent, and it's working for me...It's pays to know when to stop.

Your sideskirts are diffrent than mine? :wtf2:
Looks good tho, the tint looks light enough to be legal for the front windows @ least from the angle.
