Ok, to start off with I have a 2003 Alero with 22k on it. Today I was driving around it started to rain VERY hard. I continued to drive and never really drove through deep water. It was just heavy rain. Anyway, later today after it had stopped raining, I had to run to the store, and my transmission feels very strange now. When it shifts from 1st-2nd its fine, then when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd it seems to me like it goes to 3rd then right back to 2nd then back to 3rd and it then stays there. Now its hard to explain, but when it does this it happens in less then 1 second and I feel it and see it in the Tach. I lifted my hood, and it don't seem like anything is wet. I also unhooked the Bat. for several mins in hope to reset the computer, but it still does it. I know I have drove the alero in much deeper water then today with no problems. I am confused and hope this clears up. Anyway, has anyone else ever experianced this type of activity from thier transmission?

how hard do you drive it? it might just need to be flushed.

I don't drive hard at all. I wouldn't think the fluid would need changing at 22,000 Miles. The manual says 50k for severe driving and 100k for normal.

Well I am pretty sure the problem is fixed. I was reading my service manual and found a section where it said that moisture in the connector to transmission would cause it to act very strange or cause the SES light to some on. I went out and unpluged the cable and dried it out with a cloth. It didn't seem like it was wet, but when I pluged it back in and drove the car, it shifted perfect. So far after 150miles its still fine. I just hope its fixed for good, because I thought my trans was shot. I know I have warranty, but I don't have time to mess around at the dealership all of the time.

another thing you might want to do anyway is change the tranny fluid anyways, preventative maintenance is always better than waiting for you to feel it slipping or whatever, the dealers recomendation of waiting 50-100k scares me because I drive it hard and theres no way id wait 50k to change it, every 20 id do it.......clean fluid is always a good thing......
