Buuut. tranny fluid, this may be a dumb question, but wheres the tranny dipstick on the 2.2? cuz im gonna check the fluid, it could be dirty, and that in theory would cause my prob i would think

I could be wrong on this, but there isnt one. You have to pop the seal and let some of fluid drain out, IIRC.

There's an inspection plug on the trans housing where the passenger side axle comes out.

It has to be level, up to temp, running in park, and the fluid should dribble out.

But no there is no way to inspect the fluid without draining some out.

The 3400 is the same procedure. I just did a trans flush on mine with 102,000Miles. 6 months ago dropped the pan changed the filter and refilled (It was engine oil black). Drive it for a while, then Flushed it a month ago (Still very black). Took almost 14 quarts before the flush machine was discharging clean red fluid. Just a drain and fill only changes about 4-5 of the 14-16 thats in there, so if youre having and issue youre best to get it flushed and the filter/gasket changed.

The check plug is a 11mm plug behind and above the passenger side cv axle. And you don't want to flush it, just drop the pan and replace the filter, refill with 2 gallons ATF, and drain the excess from the check plug. I did it 3 times on my alero and kept that tranny like new.

The Scottsman is not amused, GM was NOT thinking with their dipstick.
