I bought a new Pioneer deck after doing a lot of research with the chimes and stuff. I got it all ready to go and the mounting kit doesn't fit well enough so that the factory trim snaps in up top, I even tried putting the dash kit in without the head unit in it. I was using a Metra kit I bought from Best Buy that had the pocket below the head unit. Is there a better kit out there I can buy, perhaps a high quality one? And I looked at some pics, can you install an aftermarket head unit without a dash kit, and just fill the gap below?

there's gotta be a way.. don't know off the top of my head, but there seems to be some great setups in these here forums. It's says you're in GR.... try calling Sound Buggy.. they're in North Muskegon... they seem to do good work and may be able to help

The $14.99 kit from crutchfield works fine. I have a spare one if you need it. For $10 shipped it's yours.

For some of the longer decks, you have to get rid of some of the plastic inbehind the deck.
I had to with my Alpine 7893
