What is your favorite brand of wax? Also is spray better or the gel kind better?

I always use the traditional turtle wax. It last for a year or so and does a good job at keeping a shine.

P.S. I like your signature!

I got some Meguir's Gold Class this spring, and it looked pretty good. Their three step thing also shines 'er up good. Don't waste your money on the Scratch-X though.
Turtle Wax is always good.
Rain-X wax works good too. Beads up really nice. :)
That wax as you dry stuff is awesome to put a nice shine on it when you wash it.
Honestly, I haven't found anything that will get the swirlies out of my paint, so I'm just happy with something smooth and shiny. I spent a whole day with a clay bar and the three step, and it was still swirly, so I gave up.

I use Mothers, and Zymol. Occasionally I'll do a Blue Coral Spray on at the car wash where I work.

But the best stuff on the market, and what we use for details, and that I used only like twice a year because its expensive and long lasting is Ardex. Best stuff on the market.

Slightly below that would be the 3M products, again, very expensive. But for just the average Joe wax can't beat Mothers, Meguiars or Zymol

Meguires Gold class has left my car show-room shiney scince 2001, no swirlies, no scratches, no nuthin but bling. :smokin:

I agree that Ardex is the best. A friend used to own a detail shop, and he got it for me. It's just odd that you would leave wax on overnight, but that's how this stuff works! He sold his business, though, and now I can't get it. Right now, I use Griot's Garage wash and Griot's wax. Very nice. But once this bottle is done, I'm gonna go with Molson and try Zaino. I've heard a LOT of good stuff about it.

Best store bought wax is Meguairs gold IMO.

Best (but much more expensive) specialty wax is Zaino.

IMO.

IMO, Meguiar`s Gold Class Liquid. Ive been using it for years. I used it on my 88 Olds Delta 88 for years, now on the 02 Alero. always a nice lasting shine. I also have the habbit of washing and waxing every week.

I have used many brands in the past 12 years ( Zymol, Meguiars, Zip, Turtle Wax, Blue Coral, NuFinish to name a few). I have tried spray on types, wash off types, liquid types, and it only took 5 years for my old man to get through to me, but I took his word for it and tried Turtle Wax (paste type) and I've had my best results. The only other one that worked really well was the Meguiars 3 step, but it also took me 9 hours to complete. I just waxed my '96 red cavalier last wend with Turtle paste and the paint now looks about 3 inches thick! Guys at work can't believe it is 8 years old and original. My father has had nice cars in the past ( a Duster, Pontiacs, Chevy's, Grand-Am, Cutlass) and is a detail freak, and swears by Turtle Wax Paste for a long lasting shine. I worked for a BMW/Land Rover Dealership for a few years and rule #1, NEVER use a towel to dry off painted surfaces (swirl maker!). I only use a Real Chamois to dry. Good Luck!

Finish 2001 as a cleaner wax once in a while and followed by Black Magic liquid wax makes my black '00 look great, but I haven't been really trying many things. I used to use meguiars and loved it.

Was just trying out a few different waxes on my car.. megulars gold glass and turtle wax platinum.. the megulars left weird shadows after buffing out. the turtle wax covered lots of dings from stray rocks and a few of the sratches.. it took a little bit longer but i love the shine and the dept of just one coat.. so i re washed and waxed my car with the turtle wax platnium series stuff and it looks really good.. put two coats on the hood and it covered a lot more of the dings.. car looks great now just got to wait for it to rain to see how well it keeps up in this michigan weather and then again just detroit driving..

I use Meguier's Gold Class the most. I have heard to try Zaino, and the shine will be awesome. I haven't saved up enough to do all the steps in that polish yet, though!

I like the Meguier's Gold Class liquid wax. I ran out of that recently and have been using the Meguier's Tech Wax (liquid). I still think that the Gold Class is the best I have ever used. After what everyone has said, I'm thinking about trying to get ahold of those upscale brands.
