Ok so I got my new deck in the mail today. :yahoo: and so as iwasgoing thru the manual icame upon this section of how-to and so I'm going to type out what it says now: to adjust the subwoofer output: adjust the out put level. 2. Select a cut-off frequency according to the connected subwoofer 31.5Hz to 200Hz 3. Adjust the continuity of the sound among the speakers -18 thru -12 thru -06
Ok can somebody tell me what all that means?

what are your sub specs? look at the frequency response range of your sub specs and set the higher range, so you only get low pitch notes. mine can respond to up to 250 hz, and i let it receive all of it, but i only boost about 180 and down. the other thing, (the negative numbers) i'm gonna have to guess if your bass boost/gain level. the lower the number, the louder the sub is gonna be compared to the rest of your system. ex: -18 will be quite a bit more bass output compared to your other speakers volume the -6 will be.
hope this helps, i kinda didn't explain it too well. but once you get a baseline setting you can tweak it to get it to sound just like you want.

Kind of to taste is how I tune it...
I turn on a rock song with about mid-level bass (no rap, or things without bass), then set the bass on the h/u almost as low as it can go. Turn it up to a normal listening volume and begin turning up the subwoofer amplifier. Once you can just barely hear it, turn up the h/u bass up on the amp until it's at a comfortable amount.. a daily listening sort of thing. Hopefully that's about half way between lowest and highest h/u bass settings.
Now grab a rap song with lots of bass. Turn it up near the top on the amp. Is it loud enough? If not, turn the sub woofer amp up slightly more (don't go past like 2/3 - 3/4 gain on the amp, though.. that's my personal rule at least.) Don't turn up the any anymore if it sounds choppy.. if it's choppy you're out of power and it won't get any louder.
Once you have a good mix of volume controls (can be quiet if needed and loud when desired, and anywhere in between).
Setting the h/u crossover is per taste.. I usually set it around 80-100hz. Depends what music you prefer, rock you might want it a little higher for the musical bass, or rap you can get away with lower since rap songs are mostly low bass.
And that' third one.. I'm no good with -db ratings are so forth. Your guess is as good as mine.
That's my amateur guide. Is it right? Doubt it, lol. But that's what works for me.
