Ok so I got a 600 watt amp and I have two twelve inch pioneers. So the subs RMS is 300 watts. So my question is which would sound better the two twelves hooked up to the amp or just one hooked up to the amp? I have a Sony xplod amp, and I think that it's max is 600 watts, if you wanna see what it looks like check out the thread in the showcase called My 2001 alero

what is the amps rms if the amps rms is 600 you can hook up both subs to the amp because it would be a perfect match you would not be over or under powering the subs and no over powering the amp but if the amp is 600 max power you should get another amp the same amp that you have but get another. what the brand of the amp

Hook 'em both up, as long as you have a good enclosure/mounting....

if the amp is 600 watts max then he should only hook up one sub because he will have the chance to blow the amp if he were to power two subs with the amp the amp is only 300 watts rms so one sub would be good for it but if he wants to power both he needs another amp for the other sub or a bigger amp that is 600 watts RMS because that would be perfect for the two 300 watt rms subs

lol,

How is he going to blow the amp?

He can run two subs, but he wont have NEAR enough power.

He would be better off with a single sub solutions, like an American bass DX12.

Depending on the Ohms, if it is a 2 channel amp, maybe you could bridge both subs? I don't know the exact specs though, so this may not be a possibility.

Ok  some more info about the amp:

Rated Power output: 60W X 4 (4 Ohms)
Max. Power Output: 600W (2 Ohms)

Its a 4/3 Channel

Well, I just looked at the manual (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=XM-ZR604R&region_id=1), and am not entirely sure how it works. From what I am seing, it has 2 channels for treble and 2 channels for bass. The bass channels are bridgeable, but you would have to connect both subs to that same bridged channel. If your subs are 4 ohms, you would end up with a 2 ohm load, and you'd get a little more juice from that amp. Im not sure if the amp is 2 ohm stable though.

Dude seriously...

Do you even know WTH you are talking about?

First hes going to blow the amp.

Now he just needs a cap and everything will be alright?

I advise the OP to take this persons advice with extreme caution.

This is just me but I would not use that amp for subs, looks like an okay amp for mids and highs.

Get another amp to push the subs. What Pioneer (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Subwoofers#section=overview) subs do you have?

Didnt we talk about this in pm already? It may of been someone else...

Get me a model number of the amp and a link to the manual.

I see someone posted it but you didnt post a specific model, so it may not be the same amp.

From there I can help a bit better.

You'll be happier hooking up your subs now running them and having all of the materials you will need in the long run. But if you're upgrading your stereo, and don't want to break your wallet, find an amplifier either Mono or 2 channel, thats rms rating is that of the both of your subs rms combined. This will divide the load of the subs onto the amplifier for a perfect match (theoretically of course). No matter what amp you get for a reasonable price in your mind is gonna be a bit overrated, but it is what you're gonna want to run those subs with. Go for a 2-channel amp though, it'll be a lot cheaper, but fit your budget a bit better. Just don't get your max and rms ratings mixed.
