Does any one know where I can get motor mounts for the ecotec or if there are mounts that will work with the ecotec powered N-body?

You have a automatic correct?? If so this should work

Now for the Upper motor mount theres NONE so far. But this one is pretty close, basicly for us ECOTEC we need the "Motor to Mount" plate made. And actually from his description, we would need the bottom plate since his not selling it(means we need a use 3400 or 2.4 one)

$185! Damn!
You can just fill your stock trans mount with 3M Urethane for about $8 I think.

so is a lower mount the same as a trans mount or are they two seperate types of mounts like I think they are? I found a lower mount for the grand am on Rk sport for $45 http://www.rksport.com/main/part_detail.asp?itemid=491&appid=136&mdid=9&catid=3 they don't give much info on it...

We dont have a lower mount tho... especially not like that in that picture. That is the one on the cavalier which is way different engine craddle than ours. That wont even fit a grand am, if is that one on the picture. Ill try getting some pictures later.

How much different is the ecotec side mount compared to a 2.4 or 3400?
Vic28
11-11-2009, 12:18 PM
Well your mount fits the chasis perfect, since we can swap any motor in it. The difference is the mount to motor plate, we would need one made for that.

This is how the stock one looks like, its obviously a different design than yours:

This is the one they sell for the j-bodies, its a closer design to yours. I believe the dimensions are not the same, like the two bolts that holds the mount to the chassis.
Also their motor adapter is different than n-bodies, compare the bolts.

The stock 3400 plate wouldn't match up to your block side mount?
Vic28

I doubt it, looks kinda close with the 3 holes design, but for some reason I think is shifted the opposite way. I looks like the third hole is farther out.
I been looking for a cheap or free mount to try. Heres a better angle.

I'd also like one to work on something besides the engine. The lack of it has actually made me wonder if doing it how ion said will work for the upper mount. I would prefer to do it right, but nothing is available.

maybe we can get a vendor to develope one for us and maybe get a group buy together. or work something out so we can have some.

A group buy sounds like a good idea. I'd be in for it as well. I'll just hold off on some of the purchases I was planning, and I should be set.

Besides the polished IDI covers, carbon fiber coolant tank, carbon fiber battery cover (group 75), and a few other things.

It's not. It's $18.99 actually at AutoZone. 3M Window Weld Super Fast Urethane. I filled my transmission mount with it, a hell of a lot stiffer now.

No, ours is a rectangular shape. The J-Body's is a more rounded and smaller unit.

THat ghetto Window Welder aint taking my abuse, especially on the rear tranny mount. It fealt stiffer once done and all, but it didnt take long for it to start coming out, and looked like an insert for mounts.

I do believe the prothane inserts for the cavalier do work on the Alero. Manual transmission only..
They're # 7514 & 7515

I had them, they had to be slightly modify. The sleeve is to narrow for the n-body bolts some how, I had to drilled them. And personal think they are junk. They cracked right away, didnt give me a chance to even go to the track.
Im getting the solid ones that turbotechracing sells.

If anyone has fab/mod skills to make a bracket to adapt my mount to the ecotec, pm me. I do not have the capacity to cover this but I am certain the design of my mount will be superior to every other option presented to date.

It would be great if you could get a N-body Ecotec mount made. If anyone tries to pursue this further count me in!
Also, what about aftermarket transmission mounts?
