You cant get a chip for the alero?

the computer has to be reprogramed with hptuners. this is the only option.
I know ebay has the BS chip crap on there but it does nothing.

No, if you are thinking about those performance chips you see on Ebay, dont freaking do it. The only way to make your car perfrom better is with actual mods and tuning. Not a chip.

How much does hp tuners cost? And also is there guides to help you thru programen it
Oldsman
10-27-2009, 11:07 AM
it costs $500 and you need a laptop. I don't know of any guides for it to help you program it. But depending on you knowledge level you might be able to figure it out with some help from their forum when and if you buy it.

Whats the diff between the 349 standard edition and the 500 pro edition?

where do you see it for 349 and 500? 499 and 649 are retail. The pro version has 5v inputs to record at the same time (such as wideband) and it can record without a laptop.

How much more power and such can you even get out of hp tuners on a stock 2.4
[ion] C2
10-27-2009, 11:40 AM
It depends on how you tune... you need to know what you're doing! You need a wideband sensor. You need to research and learn about cars before jumping into serious things you have no clue on.

not as much as you could with a modified 2.4
Really hptuners for a stock motor is not the best bang for you buck if HP is what you are looking for.

^NO! Nate quit confusing the newbs!
no chip for 2.4. hptuners is all custom, but on a stock 2.4 its near worth the money imo. just go with the usual mods.

we are talking about the pcm here right? i have one ordered from mpracing but was slightly disappointed to hear it would only give between 10-15 hp. is this true u think? im having it tuned for cai, high flow cat, catback exhaust, 180 thermostat, and higher octane.

180 thermostat
you know the stock thermostat is a 180 degree thermostat. lol. (actually the LD9 is) also getting a colder opening temperature won't make your car run cooler, it just changes the time it takes for it to get to normal operating temp (190-200). so many misunderstand this.

Well I've already got cold air intake and exhaust and Ngk plugs.I won't bigger cams and such but I can't find any of this name some stuff I could do and were to get it I got about 1200 I wonta drop in the motor

You can turbo your car for that amount.
If you want to build the engine it you're looking at around $2200 parts and labor.

it's not rocket sience to put an engine together lol  (I'm just bugging you Ion)
Now on topic of the thread for tuning...
Do you know how are cars determine fueling? Do you know what a VE table is? Maf table? Do you know how to correctly tune for spark? Do you know what the correct AFR is at light throttle? how about WOT?
If you can answer yes to all these then you can probably tune. If you answer no to any one of them, you aren't ready yet.
Your best bet is to pay someone to tune it if you can't answer those questions

So i can turbo my car for around 1200?Question is were do i get a turbo kit for this car i have looked for one and i can not find one
[ion] C2
10-27-2009, 11:11 PM
That's because there are no bolt on kits made... it's so you get to research and learn about what you're doing instead of tossing money away and not knowing anything about cars.... take a look at Aleromod Upgrades sometime.

Ok well heres my main question if i put a turbo on the car Do you have to have hp tuners?
[ion] C2
10-27-2009, 11:23 PM
You have to have it or borrow it... it needs to be tuned...
jinxyxo18
10-27-2009, 11:26 PM
No way i can do all this for 1200 then i dont know anybody that has hp tuners
Maybe i should just go with Gm S/C even know id rather go turbo

What about this one?
And does anyone still sell SC for aleros?

PFYC.com has a SC for the alero....$3600 tho.
I have never seen any turbo for 1200, maybe just the turbo, but then you got all the pipes, intercooler blow off, and all that stuff too. I dont know much about turbos but still know 1200 seems real cheap.
I was looking at turboing my lexus and the cheapest one I saw was a stage 1 and like 3-4k...stage 4 over 10k (but they tune and instal)
I would start small maybe some cams, headers, intake, exhaust, port and polish, pulleys (all the small stuff) pistons/rods and then use the programmer to adjust levels to where you would then get the most out of the minor mods you have added...logically thinking. Then once you had a turbo you will have upgraded a lot of the other stuff you would end up having too later.
****edit, I stand corrected with the $400 turbo on ebay, lol ha ha

That's only for cars originally with 3.1 (LH0, Vin T) and 2.8 (LB6, Vin W) MPFI engines and the like.
