Anybody ever heard of this?
I'm a 1mile from home and stopped at a light. I notice a small amount of steam, very small amount comming from teh hood/fender line.
I stop at the supermarket before I go home and pop the hood. Coolant on the windshiled, fender, under side of hood, but not too much. A little more coolant under the bottle.
Where's it coming from, then I notice this very small slit. I MacGyvered it until Monday. The driver's side window is falling off the track too, that happened Thursday :rolleyes2: I don't have any of my tools right now (long story)

Wow, no idea how that could've happened. I have another reservoir but its molested, silent painted it and so you can't really see the level the coolant is at. If you need it let me know.

yeah, it's tinted orange, and the previous owner destroyed the threads, and the cap leaks out the threads and overflow tube

I was wondering if this is a common problem on these cars and I'm beginning to think so just from searching on the internet. The fact that so many places carry the part in 3 brands (AC Delco, Dorman, and NAPA's house brand) are telling something. Can anyone say of the Dorman part is any good? Rock Auto's price on it is pretty good. Having said that I'm not sure if I'a buy it if the AC Delco part is redesigned, etc.

It's plastic, that weakens over time.
Could happen to any car/truck/van/boat/rv/tank/ or anything else that has a coolant bottle in it :rolleyes2:

After doing some internet research, I've concluded that the Dorman replacement model is just as bad as any other Dorman product and probably should be avoided. Also, I see lots of other complaints on lots of cars about them, but I've nver personally had it happen before. Just the proverbial red flag when I look around and see how many available replacement parts they are for this problem and how easy it seems to get for what normally would be a dealer only item.
