Well, I just installed my 5K HID lights tonight, and I am very happy with the results. I have no idea why I didn't do this earlier, it is definitely one of the first things to be done on all my cars from here out. I got them all in and adjusted slightly higher then stock halogen aiming, and i shit you not with the highs on I can see damn near a half mile down a flat, dark highway. It just amazing. Heres some pics, but they don't do any justice whatsoever.

lows only. notice how you can see one and just a little of the second pole.

lows and highs, now you can easily see 4 poles and some of the fifth. you can see the fifth no problem at all in real life.

you didnt need to aim them higher, people are gonna be flashing you all nite (with just your lows) I get that ALL the time on both my cars after converting.

they were a lil too low to use all the new light available. its only 3/4 turn higher so not bad, i've probably met a dozen cars so far and they didn't bother. I just need to make damn sure i shut the highs off earlier than i used to so i don't blind someone now, literally.

That spread pattern on the ground hurts my eyes. Should have gone with projectors.
...which are NOT made for our cars...

good thing you don't live here i guess, cause they don't make projectors for the alero. yea you can custom them, but i have neither the time or the money to mess with that. I really don't care, haven't even had a single person flash me yet, and i can see great so idc.

That pattern really isn't that bad.... Typical DOT pattern. Projectors are far more annoying as a far as oncoming cars on the road.

UUuhhh this realy looks nice.
Planning on doing something like that with my headlights.
Could you post some pics of the wiring? Would it be possible to let it look like its stock?
Which thread or how to did you use to wire yours and wire the DRL relay?
And of course what HID did you use? Part number? Manufacturer?
Thanks

^well...
here is the thread for all lights on at the same time:http://www.aleromod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21207&highlight=drl+disable
in there is the link to the hardwire drl disable that i did, but here is the direct link: http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17559
and for the HID, i cheaped out and got an ebay kit, from xenonfactory. they look great and have plenty of light, but i was supposed to get a Zentec kit and got some weird Prolite kit. It has the same warranty and they work good, so idc.
The only thing you can notice with my setup is one relay i mounted by the coolant tank for this. I hid the wires, and the relay could be hidden also i just left it out in case i wanted to quickly undo the mod. So really this could all look totally stock, cause the HID ballasts are all hidden also.

Woah. newb coming thinking he's big shit. Admire the courage there little one, but coming in and talking shit bout stuff that has already been covered doesn't work. Projectors aren't an easy thing, or cheap, to make for our cars. Why do you think only a few people have done it? Do it easy and cheap, lead the way and others will follow, but it ain't gonna work near as easy as you think.
Of course where i live doesn't have anything to do with if they make projectors, you really think i'm that stupid? its a separate statement. The pattern isn't that bad when you look at it. get a picture of the stock halogens and compare the pattern, not much difference, but much brighter. As for the wasting light, you waste light with a reflector halogen system also. Idc that i'm wasting some with my HID, because its still a f uck of a lot brighter and shines lots farther down road than halogen.
On a separate note, whats with the new word filters? Which is the reason for the space in my words, getting around it. We're mostly all adults here, let us talk like we want.

Maybe your concern about projector glare is because when an oncoming car hits a bump, the cutoff line hits you in the eye. In normal driving, this is usually never the case.
Exactly... Maybe we just have bumpy roads around here...
