I am wanting to upgrade my cars stopping ability and am curious to find out what combinations of rotors and pads work the best. After doing a lot of research it seems the best pads at the most affordable price are slotted ones. I am still undecided though on what kind of pads to use. Obviously I would like to gain stopping performance but I also want to eliminate as much brake dust as possible (hate having to clean wheels all the time).

If you guys could give me some information on what you have used or what friends of yours with aleros have used it would be great.

Looking for information such as what brand and type of rotors as well as what brand and type of brake pads.

Thanks

A higher-performance brake pad is going to produce more dust.....no way around it. You can get special compounds that dust less, but stopping ability is decreased.

I just put RSM slotted brake rotors and Performance Friction Carbon Metallic brake pads on my car today. The braking performance is much improved when the brakes are cold. However, when the brakes are hot, the performance is, well, phenomenal. Today was the first day that my brakes have ever thrown me forward. I wasn't paying attention and the turn to my neighborhood was coming up fast. I hit the brakes and I almost stopped short of the turn. I was shocked, I had good solid brakes, dramatically improved over stock and there was no shaking from the warped rotors.

haven't bought them yet, but you can get slotted rotors on ebay for about $100 but they'll rust like the factory ones around the outside edge. for about $150 you can buy drilled and slotted that are zinc coated so they stay that pretty yellowish colour all the time instead of rusty orange, unless you like that kinda thing.

Im curious to know what brand of rotors people are currently using. Any replies would be fantastic along with their opinion of the quality.

you can buy uncoated rotors, and just paint the edges, like I did.
