Does anyone else have that color? I've been trying to find some touch up paint since I bought the car and cant find any of my color anywhere, it wasnt even in the Dupli-Color catalog. Have to order it from my dealership?

That's messed up that its not in the catalog. Did you get the paint code off of the spare tire cover in your trunk? That's what I used when I had to buy touch up paint for mine.

Yeah, the option code for that paint is 17U, but the GM paint code is 133D I think.

Yeah when I bought mine it was like that cause Olds called my car color Ruby Red Metallic, while GM calls it Redfire Metallic GM code was like NG 502 while the olds code was like WA526F. My best suggestion is if you can't find it is maybe try and find something close cause I would hate to see what a dealership would charge for like a $8 thing of touch-up paint. Cause in 2000 yours was called Silvermist metallic, but in 2001 they renamed it Sterling metallic, but its the same or very close to the same color. If all else fails though you will have to order it from the dealer.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I think Im going to have my dad get me some from work, (he works at a Chevy dealership) that might be my best bet.

Oh yea if he works for the dealer go that way that would be the quickest and easiest way. He might even get a better deal on it than buying it at autozone or wal-mart lol.

Yeah, he gets me all my parts half off list price which is pretty kick ass, so the paint should be cheeper too, yay employee discount, lol.

Yeah, it can be nice, but I still have to wait around to have him put them in which takes months, so its nice to get the parts I need but their never installed when they need to be, lol.

not the same, no way. put two aleros side by side one with silvermist and one with the other silver. There is a very noticeable difference, i've seen two side by side like this on the dealer lot where i worked.
Just order through the dealership. That way you know its the exact right color. Just either give them your vin or the paint code and they will get you it, have your dad do it though so he gets the employee discount. I think its somewhere around $10 last time i got some, but i can't quite remember.

I have the silvermist metallic and I got the paint from a local auto part store no problem. Was listed in a Dupli-Color catalogue under 2003 Alero silvermist paint code. The code itself was different from what I found on the spare tire cover, but I have done some touch ups and color matched my interior and the match is nearly perfect.

Might be 2002 then. It was on the third page of the list of colors by year, so maybe 2002, can't remember to be exact.

Huh I always thought they were at least similar in color, but then again i've never seen both side by side so it just looks like silver to me either way lol. Like I said though Olds called my color Ruby Red Metallic while GM and Dupli-Color call it Redfire Metallic. I mean it wasn't an exact match, but It was very close about as close as I could get without having it professionally redone. You can't even tell the spots I did on my front bumper unless your right up on them. I eventually got to get both the front and back bumper redone anyway cause they're both starting to crack and fade from 7 years of sitting outside in the sun. I just haven't decided if I'm going to do it myself or have Maaco or somebody do it.

Yes that is correct 99 it was gold metallic, 00 it was called Auburn mist which was more towards a dark gold or brown color than 99 and in 01 it was renamed again as Sandstone metallic although still not exactly the same as the 2 previous years. They also changed the green in 00 or 01 and dropped the plum color after 99. Mine the Ruby red was introduced in 00 and they added the Ruby red metallic in 01. Also looking at it again i realize the difference between the two silvers and apologize for giving false info earlier.

Auburn mist was only from 99-00 and I listed it as a 00 because they didn't make an actual gold or sandstone for the 00 model year. Sandstone was from 01-up. Your right though Auburn mist is rare because I've seen maybe 1 or 2 here.
