ok, so I bought a pair of universal fogs and i need to know where to run the wires. Main problem is going from the engine bay to interior. Where is the best place to run them through?
Thanks couldn't find anything with the search button :ninja:

do i have to dis-assemble the dash to do this?

no, take off the bottom plastic piece under your dash above where your feet go. you can get to it from there. That grommet is what basically everyone uses cause its easiest to get to and its the best way to to way wires.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! ok so i got the wires through, hooked up everything. started car, fogs wouldn't turn on. So i figured bad ground cause the grounds for the lights are on painted metal. I went to shut the car off... and it wouldnt shut off! So i tried putting key back in turning to on then off again, nothing. So i pulled the ground to the battery, still running. finally pull the positive to the fuses and it shut off. This is where i attached the positive from the switch. my question... WTF went wrong??????

looks right, but what fuse are you tapped into? btw never pull a battery cable off while the car is running.

ok forgot to include that, positive from the switch has a built in fuse, so its attached straight to the positive terminal on the fuse box. and also...how the hell else was i supposed to shut it off?

ok so i really can't see anything that could make the fogs not work. as far as the cat not shutting off, thats fucked up man. maybe your key cylinder is going out, but i think its a separate problem than your fogs for sure. i guess disconnecting that batt was needed as a last resort here probably, but having no buffer between the voltage coming out of the alt and the rest of the system= bad idea.

ok, well i know the switch is getting power cause its lighting up lol, so its either the positive to the lights (green in diagram) or the ground for the lights still... guh ill quadruple check my connections........

Ok so everybody call me a dumbass....... i switched the positive and negative on the switch...All that frustration from something stupid...it took me longer to figure out that mistake than it did to clear my corners... lol

Why don't you want people to see them? those are $18 from walmart and I'm not ashamed of it, how could it be worse?
and to jayson... I believe now that the reason the car continued to run was because the ground and positive wires were switched, so by attaching them one which i thought was positive (which was actually the ground) to the positive on the fuses must have completed the circuit and thus leaving the car running. It's amazing i didn't melt any wires :D

Looks good! Why didn't you locate them in the stock locations?
Ttop191
12-06-2009, 08:35 PM
lol i thought that was til I looked at pics of stocks. where i mounted them there is a tab that works ok, I'll go out now and check if its easier in stock location, and will definitely be a sturdier mount

For those not being stock fogs they look good. Did you go out and move them to the stock position or leave them where they were in the pics?
Ttop191
12-06-2009, 11:33 PM
they are still there, I cant find the stock mounts, it is a GX after all so maybe they don't exist

there really is no "mounts" just some holes drilled into the bumper brace i believe that the stock fog bracket bolts go into

I'm thinking about using the stock fog brakets and just mount some aftermarkets my self, and put them on the fog switch. I don't really like the stock ones. Looks good man!
