Ok heres my problem. 4 door with power locks. On both sides, the door lock switch works and you can hear the relay click but the doors do not lock. Even when I shift out of park, they do not lock. ????? Actuator?
Also, the trunk button works, but trunk doesn't open. No, the trunk release switch is not in the on position. Ive actually tried it both ways. ?????
Any help is appreciated.

Fuse #34, or relay 27

Would not having a working cigarette lighter have something to do with it???
I know thats what 34 is and all my relays inside the dash click when i press the buttons, so the one under the hood works too.

I don't know how your cigarette lighter would have something to do with it, but then again stranger things have happened so its possible.

Thats what fuse 34 is, and it looked fine, but I had to cut mine out. Its amazing that people dont understand how a test light works.

No I know that is what the fuse is for. What I'm saying is I don't understand why it would matter whether or not you had a working cigarette lighter because we've lost the cigarette lighters on both the Alero and the Grand Am and haven't had that problem.

You talkin about on the lock actuator?? Idk i would have to look.
But i did notice something a while ago. When I press either the passenger or driver to unlock both relays click, but nothing happens. But when I press to lock, nothing happens at all, no click or anything. The trunk button relay also clicks but nothing happens.
???I just dont get it.

Ok...this problem still persists. I changed the fuse under the hood #34. All the relays tick when i press their corresponding switch. Doors do not lock/unlock, and trunk will not open. Has nothing to do with the trunk lock switch inside the trunk.
OMGz this is confusing.

you know, my relay worked, but it was corroded, and never got a connection, just because it clicks, does NOT mean it works

Check the 2A fuse under the hood... mine was just bad and it did the same thing..

Tales from the grave :)
I thought this may be better than opening a new thread.
I have an intermittent problem with LOCKING my doors (the trunk works fine).
every once in a while (happening more often) it is not possible to lock the doors via the remote or the button on the driver / passender door.
Locking them with the key or the little handle thing works fine.
If I press the remote or the button, the lights flash (as normal) and I hear the some faint "grinding / moaning" from inside the door near the lock - and the door is still open.
If I press the remote / button and it locks the doors I hear a load and solid "chunk" as the door(s) lock.
Now the question is something else bad (like mentioned relay, fuse, ground) or do I new 4 new door lock actuators?
and if yes how to I determine if I need the ones "does not include connector for Anti-Theft system" or the ones with, without taking my doors apart?

had the chance lately to have my fingers on the relays while pushing the lock button and the doors wouldn't lock, but the relays did a strong click.
So the fuse is obviously ok, since without a fuse it wouldn't do anything.
the relay click even if the doors don't lock.
Should I next check voltage for the actuators at the relays or is there another prone part to fail.
I don't wanna take my doors apart right now.

I’ve had this problem for along time now but it never bugged me enough to try to fix it; Ill start trouble shooting soon to see if I can solve the mystery once and for all.

as the export models don't honk the horns, it can be quite a security issue if you can't lock the doors and don't recognize it.
I'll be very glad and happy if you could look into this asap
