I just had the passenger side hub replaced (it was past worn out). Since then I've had a sporadic trac-off light.

Last week the snow came and my wheels have been packed with ice since. This morning I was driving and I got the full blown abs/trac-off/service engine soon light combo. If I stop the car and shut it off, the lights go away for a while, then come back up. One time I was accelerating at about 50mph when the low-trac light flashed (no actual wheel slip), I felt the trac control thump, and then the 3 lights came up.

My theory is a bad connection, but before I go playing in the snow under the car, I wanted to run it by you gurus. Does it sound like a loose plug or the tone ring/ sensor crapping out? Also, where is the actual wiring harness for the hub VSS?

that happened to me after i replaced my hub... turned out the wire to the sensor got pinched somewhere.. so i'd check for a pinch exposing the wire.

Big thank you to both of you.

Not tryna steal your thread man but I have somewhat the same problem. Another addition to mine though is when I start my car and begin driving the first time I press the brakes I hear a wicked grinding noise. Almost sounds like metal to metal. Ive already had all my pads replaced. I let off go again, the next time and any time after, no noise. WTF??

1: do you have rear drums??
2: is the sound from the front or rear??

Okay thanks. I'm waiting for it warm up out of the teens before I do anything, but I'll let you know what I find. If it is a pinched wire, will a weatherpack crimp do it, or do I need to try and solder it?

FWIW, when my hub was bad, I had a grinding in the brake too. It was especially bad when backing up and turning. After the new hub went on it went away. No clue if the hub was to blame as I cleaned and regreased the caliper pins while I had it apart.
