View Full Version : How to best protect paint from exaust fumes?
After I did my exhaust I've noticed some discoloration around the tip on my bumper. Is there anyway to stop that? I just clay blocked it clean and put a few coats of wax there for now.

So your bumper (the plastic cover) is discolored from the exhaust?
If you are handy, you could take some polished stainless steel and form it into a heatshield that conforms to the factory cutout in the bump cover, and then rivet it in place.
I have an old friend who did that on his Prelude. Turned out really nice.
Or if the exhaust is turning your bumper black, take it to a mechanic to diagnose why your car is running rich.

Or have your exhaust come out a little more.

Or put one of those cool chrome exhaust tips on with the LEDs in it!!!! :thumb:

Is the tip touching the bumper
No, there's a 1" gap.
And you know what, I'm retarded....I have no cat! No wonder it's discoloring.

i wonder if that thick clear platsic protector that places sick on fenders and front bumpers to protect rock chips would stop discoloring?
