OK I would like to know what speakers people have fit in both front and rear locations....i know the front is a lil more complicated than front.........i want to know which 6x9's people have fit, if it was a drop in, if some things had to be shaved......I want brand and model numbers......and only from people who have done the install because its hard to answer all these questions unless you have done it.......i am more interested in 5 1/4's up front.....but if you wanna write how the 6 1/2's fit thats fine.......this will help not only my decision on what speakers will fit and how they fit but also others looking to swap in some new speakers......please dont crap up the thread too much, lets try and keep it on topic as much as possible.....

thanks guys.....

www.crutchfield.com

go there, type in your model/make etc... and they can tell you everything that will fit. (They don't sell Eclipse Speakers though)

crap crap crap.......oh sorry...

Anyway, the pioneer TS-A6980R 6x9's will fit right in the back without modification. Are a little tight in the stock speaker bracket, but will fit.

As far as the front, I have the audiobahn abc4002 4" components with a 4" adapter plate. I had to shave a little around the hole in the plate for it to fit right but not to bad. Then screwed the plate on and that was it. The tweeters are bigger than stock..so I shaved the tabs in the tweeter housing....and just epoxied them in. I know most people like bigger mid ranges but these audiobahn's reach pretty low for 4" speakers and my 6x9"s pick up anything lower down to 25hz. Not much modification needed at all. I think most 6x9's out there will drop right in.

sorry guys, didnt mean for it to sound demanding, and crutchfields list kinda sucks especially for speakers up front, think they list only one, or maybe thats for the 6x9's, but i know others have made some fit that are not listed and thats what i wanted to know......

mdodge im not too worried about the bass and midbass i got that all covered with 2 10's just looking for the vocal part, i really dont want to go 4" up front, would like 5 1/4s for a lil more voice up front, anybody else with setups would be appreciated....

with the 2 10's you got...yeah a bigger mid range would be good. Question though...are you going to amp all 4 speakers....or just the sub. Makes a huge difference with 4 channels powered instead of just the sub....that way the sub doesn't overpower the speakers....and it brings out all the dimensions of the music alot better......but you knew that I'm sure.

yea mdodge im actually amping the stock speakers right now with a 55x4 that i have toned down a little, it has great frequency controls and can remove pretty much all bass from my vocal speakers........and it sounds pretty good right now, cant wait to see how it sounds with good speakers all around.....

i've got Alpine's Type S 6X9 for the rear, and the Clarion Pro Audio 4X6 plate speakers in the front. I'm just running them off the deck, and they're really clear...don't expect any bass out of them tho, but like you said, don't need any anyways....

alpines fit perfect, and click here (http://www.clarioncanada.com/english/product/index.php?mod=details&category=speakers&product=SRC4695) for the plates...they changed a lil, but for the better...

Infinity kappa 4x6 plates fit fine, but the kappa 6x9 3ways DON'T fit. Well, they will once you take an air chisel and take out some of the back deck.

If you are looking for a good set of introductory speakers for the front and back then I would suggest something along the line of the eclipse point source. The point source have a crossover built onto the side of the speaker. This gives you the benefits of the componants but in a smaller size like most integrated speakers. There are two problems with the itegrated speakers. The first is that there is no crossover to protect the mids and highs. A cap or two will normaly be placed to help prevent overheating, but the frequencies will overlap. This is why one woofer and tweeter sound better than a three way integrated series. The other problem is that the integrated speakers have a pole running through the woofer cone. This limits the performance of the woofer. Once again, why a six inch componant can out perform a 6x9 integrtated speaker. The point source places the tweeter to the cone to reduce this limitation. I currently have componants but would greatly concider changing to the point source due the flexibility of there installation and superb sound (the componants must have a exact enclosure size) . JL produces a similar product but run about fifty dollars more than the eclipse. I have not fitted the eclipse point source to our cars but the dimensions are 3 and 7/16 deep for the 6x9, 2 and 3/8 for the 6.5's , and 2 and 1/16 for the 4's. The sizes are standard and not oversized like componants. The comp's rate a size by the woofer and not overall demensions.
