ive seen some pics with painted engine.. how is that done? just get a can of paint and go over it and finish with clear coat? my alero is white.. so i wanted to paint it white and paint the "2.2 Eco" black.. and get some white hose covers (?) and do little interior decorating.. what do you guys think? (i'm planning to get either CAI or WAI.. i don't think they come in white color..)

pm some of the members who've done it already. And check on 3.4Alero's thread in the showcase forum, I believe he states what kind of paint he used.

gotta use a certain type of paint, one that handles high heat.

Any auto parts store has engine paint. Like |Rev| said, just make sure it is high heat. And I just brushed mine on, but others have taken off the manifold to paint it. Brushing is a PITA, but I had no desire to take anything apart.

im with you on that.. i got nothing to do this Friday so i'm going to get me a cool shade and some paint.. time for a makeover :P ill get the high temp paint, but do you think i should finish it off with clear coat? i have a can that is just sitting there so might as well right?

sharpies work pretty well
I used high temp engine paint for my brake calipers and some under hood stuff, I used regular touch up paint to paint the 3400SFI and have had no problems with temp or fading, I didnt use clear coat either.
I wouldnt use clear coat unless its high temp also, unless someone knows it'll work

i used a paint brush and sprayed paint into a cup and hand painted about 5 coats. takes time
