so, a few people have been saying that after a wai that the cars gas mileage went down. i've always expected it to stay the same or go up.

so for everyone who has one. what happened to your mileage. and discuss

i haven't purchased a wai, but my drop in k&n filter increased my mileage. but i wont count it as a vote

well I had an WAI intake and I noticed a little difference I noticed a bigger difference when I got the CAI and a tune. got way better MPG.

mine should also be read with the understanding that i also went from being 20, to being 25... big driving difference there. I don't stomp on the pedal, rarely pass, use cruise all the time, and try to keep it between 45mph and 65mph. (sometimes speeding in slow areas, and sometimes going the limit, in faster areas)

i do all that to cherry. i got 63mph on the highway with the cruise set. clean car. i shift into 5th gear at 40mph and slowly work my way to 60. seldom pass unless i need to.

but the v6 might be different.

on a average day i'd like to think my car would get 33mpg to 39mpg pure highway, although i did reach 41 on the odd occasion

idealy... your mpg should only go up a little with a cai. since our cars have a cai, from factory, your just increasing the amount of air it can take in. where a wai changes the air type, completely....

i've heard of cai's decreasing mpg too. but, also depends on the driver, and weather. drime is in NC... they barely get cold weather, ever.

I don't see why milage would go down, your making air flow better and reducing turbuance, wich is exactly what you want to do when making power and improving gas milage.

thats weird
cause when i first installed my WAI my mileage shot WAAAY up. then i gave my car up for bout 6 months to my grandma.. then when she had it in her posession. she said the mileage was terrible. and when i got it back it i was gettin terrible mileage ... not sure why tho with the dramatic changes in economy

this could be because of poorer quality gas too. in WNY, we know that "Rez gas" is terrible, and you should only get it if you REALLY need gas. lol

CAI and exhaust on a V6 (bodykit and sprint springs as well but off topic) got my personal best of 42 or 44 ( I don't recall any more) hwy on the way to the first ASS. Average was 35 at that time but since then it has been down hill since then...I'm lucky if I see 25 hwy now.

Ok so does anyone know if the cosmo racing intake for 2.2 warm or cold air? I can't seem to find cai anywhere.

It's warm but you can make into a cold air with minor work, you can find it here -> http://www.cosmoracing.com/productinfo.asp?cid=260&pid=1359 any part for pretty much every ecotec will work as well.
