hey guys. so hopefully everyone sees this, including ryan.

but i just purchased a mtx jackhammer 4-channel amp. at the store it said 4x100w rms (not at all cheap). so i bought it, it fits all the speakers i need perfectly.

http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/JH404_amp.cfm

but when i got home it's actually 4x100w rms at 2ohm, and 4x50rms at 4ohms.

my car speakers i believe are 4ohms. so i'm not getting the power i want.

now my questions. to get the most power out of it, whats the best way to wire it up. i know if you wire 2 4ohm speakers in series it'll go to 2 ohm. so i could wire the passenger front and back speakers in series and get 2ohm load and the power i want.

but that seems silly. should i just return it and get a 4x100w rms 4ohm amp?
this amp wasn't cheap

Those kinds of amps are build for SQ, not power, and its still a bit more power then a head unit, where most head units are 16 to 18 rms watts. Also with that amp you may want to think about getting something to process the sound.

If you paid $450, return it immediately and get your money backbefore they won't take it back anymore. For $450, you could pick up a Foosgate T1500-!BD, mono amplifier, and put the $50 back into your pocket.

That's for subwoofer applications though... If you are willing to spend the cash, search the ish out of the net. Even sift through some pages on eBay. When you want to spend big bucks as such, you are on another level. Make sure you have the right electrical though or it will be a waste of money. Rather pricy, but JL has got some *quality stuff if you look in the right places to find the right prices...

Even if you wire two speakers together to get 100 WRMS you still are only sending them the 50 WRMS each...

Thats a horrible buy of an amp.

You do realize the amp has an MSRP for $300 Thats top dollar price, not street price. Street price is around $250.

Even $250 is fairly expensive.

This would of been a nice buy:

For around $200ish

.......... i know if you wire 2 4ohm speakers in series it'll go to 2 ohm. ..........

Nope, two 4 ohm speakers in parallel would result in a 2 ohm load.
Two 4 ohm speakers in series would be 8 ohms.

I think you mean connecting them in parallel. Connection in series would actually increase the amp from 4 ohms to 8 homes. Series connections = one blows everything else goes.
