Yesterday on my way to the Twin Cities Auto Show, I got pulled over by a Wisconsin State Trooper for my window tint. Not surprised because my tint is 15% all the way around, but I have been pulled over two times before for speeding and nothing said about tint. Also I have had the tint on for 5 years and this is the first time I have been stop for it.
Anyways, my question is does anyone know how much a tint ticket is? The trooper give me a fix it ticket and I got a quote for $100 to get it removed. I am planning on trading in my car in four months and am trying to decide what will be cheaper.
Thanks

By window tint remover and do it yourself. I've seen it at Wal-Mart not sure how much it is but not much.

Looks like you can use ammonia to remove it yourself. Pretty sure you could leave the rear window tinted so that you don't damage your defroster lines.

Welcome to the club...lol! I've had my fair share of tint tickets here in Maryland. What sucks about a fix it ticket is that you cant dispute it in court...or at least that is how it works here. When I looked at getting tint removed on all my windows it cost very very close to what I paid to get it on. So I did it myself, and not saying the way I did it was the right way but the way I did it was: I used a razor to pull off the film, then I used goo gone and very very fine steel wool to remove the glue that was left behind...followed by glass cleaner. Looks pretty good. I didn't do the back three windows though but was able to slide by when MSP checked me out at the baracks. Good luck on that cause that back window is going to be a bitch.

pull off the film and use soap and water. A small rubber bouncy ball works well to get off the glue (along with soap and water) and a new razor blade (make sure to have the window soaped at all time). Probaby just the 2 fronts, so like 1/2 hour

well i would say if u werent from Wisconsin he wouldnt beable to give u a ticket, because maybe where you live its legal. Like me Pa has very strict tint laws,
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 70% of light in.
as you see very strict, and my f-body was 35% for side and 15% or so for rear, and the cop pulled me over for speeding 47 in a 45 like really. He said im lucky I don't live in Pa or I would get a tint ticket. I also beat the ticket in court saved me 150 bucks

Damn 15% is light got 2% don't have inspection thank god lol. I would just try and get it off my self shouldn't be to hard to do. Or ask one of the tint guys if he'd do it under the table

NL Laws state that the back 3 can be as dark as you want, but the fronts must be untinted or vague. (you can put the transparent UV stuff on it)

That blows man..sorry about the ticket...I just went with the maximum the state of MN would allow so I wouldn't have to deal with a-hole cops...I figure I've given them one excuse too many with tinted tails.
How was the auto show?

..... $150 for going 2 over the limit!!! that's crazy!
In ontario you are usually safe as long as you are less than 15km over the limit, it isn't worth it to them.. At 15 over that is where the OPP can issue demerit points, and then it's still only a $100 ticket

2 MPH over the limit? Are the scanners even that accurate? The difference between the spedometer in your car and the calibration of the police officers equipment could easily add up to a 2 MPH difference...I would have gone to court on that one.

Jeez. I was told by my driving instructor back when I got my license that you're allowed up to 10 over. That's what I drive when I'm in front of cops or around them and I've NEVER been pulled over for speeding.

That's still within the realm of the 5% acceptable variance set by the government.

you can dispute it on ohio if they pull you over for tint only. you have to have a moving violation in order to do anything about the tint

i did go to court with it and found out that 1 the radar wasnt calibrated since 2008, and it was December 2009, and 2 the judge said he drives 5 over the speed limit, and i got a warning.

i never knew you could dispute a tint ticket in ohio if they just pull you over for tint. How would you dispute it, just say its of legal limit?

you just take it to court. you NEED a moving violation for them to pull you over. thank you custom trim in akron for that handy tip

The price of the ticket will vary by state. My first one was $94 and then I think they jumped to $115...I had 3 of them in total. I guess the biggest issue would be that particular cop looking for you again. 2 of mine were from the same cop. He gave me a fix-it the first time and the second time he just wrote me a ticket. If it wasn't anywhere in your local area, I'd just say to pay the ticket and go about your way.

In MI tint tickets are about $90. We got pulled over for it on Saturday! Just showed him my prescription and he was like "Oh, ok. You know you never know unless you check. Car looks awesome though!"

Found out the ticket will be $175 if I don't get my windows fixed. :(
