the vinyl on my passenger side airbag started to come off... like... a lot... looked pretty bad, so i decided that there was nothing i could do about it, because if i tried to reglue it, it wouldnt look right... so i took it off...

come to find out, the damn vinyl has some foam padding or something under it, and not all of the foam was unglued... so it got left behind, and after a few hours of soaking it in lighter fluid, i managed to get most of it off..

now for the question..

does anyone know how much it'd cost to get that re-upholstered? id think it shouldnt take very long to do... they probably wouldnt want to use the stuff that came off of it, because it shrank or something from the heat (i live in texas)

its the only part of the inside of the car that looks bad :( only part on the outside thats noticeable is the back bumper, but im going to fix that soon...

It probably wouldn't cost much if you took the airbag out and took it to an upholstery shop and let them fix it. I would guess that it would be less than $100.

reuphostering is easy to do yourself, the trick is to get the right kind of glue. theres special foam blue that needs to be used because most solvent based glues melt the foam and make a mess. anyways, recovering can be fun because you can use any kind of material or vinyl to make the car more individual. have you taken the airbag out, because if not there is a how-to to help you out. its pretty easy to do, pm if you have any questions. ciaou

i havent taken out the airbag yet, didnt want to try that without a how-to, because it'd be my luck that it'd blow up in my face... i looked in the how-to section though, but couldnt find one, just had tutorials on how to remove the dash.. :/

Well I will explain then.

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY.

2. In the side fuse panel there is a yellow connector at the top, I believe. Undo this.

3. Remove the glove box.

4. Find the two bolts that hold the air bag in the are at the bottom of the air bag, and remove them. Should lift right out after that.

It is easy to do, just make sure your disconnect the power.
