Sup all,
Hey I was wanting to replace my factory rears with the Tarantulas. I saw some new for $79.00 plus shipping which = out to about $100.00.
That sounds like the lowest price I have seen these for although it has been awhile since I looked. I sent an email to neil at rolling audio near my place to get a quote on these but I' am thinking that the $79 bucks is the cheaper between him and the website. They are new btw. Do you think i should just get em online and do the install myself? I haven't messed with anything automotive or audio in like 20 years but had in the past done my own installs.

well from what i can see you would be saving yourself some money by doing it yourself, at least that is what i would do... i am not that good with audio and i did all my speakers my Kickers in the door and the Power Accustics in the rear dash. not to mention they are all 3 way so i have hella Highs, Mids, and Lows. all off my TFT Screen

I just assumed they were better than the oem on the premium package but anyone know they are for sure?

To get them the power they need and deserve you'd need a seperate amp. Why not just get a nice set of componets for the front amp them and just leave the stock 6x9s for some rear fill?

The rears are blown so I wanted to go cheapest route possible. I would just go oem but then they would blow again and it would cost about $300 for the speakers and the install I think. So I figured if I put in the SS they wouldn't be as likely to blow.
P.S.
Does anyone know what runs what? I have the tweets in the sails, the 4x6s in the lower door, the 6x9s with the amp in the trunk run off the stock head unit...Do the fronts run off the deck and the 6x9s off the amp?

All off the amp if u look at the plug in on the amp there's tons of wires!! I'd go with some cheap 6x9s low wattage unless ur getting an amp not worth wasting money on if you can't power them

By SS tarantula Im going to guess you mean SoundStream?
If so I would advise against it.
SoundStream isnt the "SoundStream" it used to be. Not even close.
I sell American Bass and they have a stout 6x9 for decent money- $110 shipped.

I have sounstread xts's for 6.9s They are ok. Rear speakers don't do too much now, since i got components upfront. they have some midbass and thats about it.
I'd go with ryans advice though... i did my setup my own way...then when everything went south, i followed his advice, and its great now.

I was hoping you would chime in since you have the soundstream, or did.

They pull their weight. I still have them in the rear, and the sound good. I've had them for YEARS. The fronts.. I killed one pair, then the 2nd pair kill themselves. (ryan will attest that i encouraged them to commit)
I'm not convinced of their quality anymore. But my rears work well. again, granted they don't do much or get tons of power

I guess what Im getting at here is on a quality to price standpoint I would advise against them. Whether you buy from me or buying something else.
Infinity Reference 2 way's are good as well.
CDT has some options.
Realistically the rear 6x9's are mainly for extra bass or mid bass.
Do you have subs or anything?

No subs just the stock premium system. I was just trying to replace the rears with a bi-amp'd set that was better than the oems. As for alot of wires there would be 8 just for the rears since they're bi-amp'd.

I suppose by "bi-amped" you mean the tweeter was powered seperate from the woofer.
In this case you need a component speaker setup.
6x9 versions of that are not to common or cheap.
I would highly suggest switching to an actual 6.5 component set.
The bi-amped crap will probably still screw you up though as you are depending on the factory settings for the crossover function of the His/lows.
This is probably disastrous.

Again, I would HIGHLY advise getting something other than a 6x9 back there.

^I sell these for way less than the advertised price!

Keep in min you can always alter the 6x9 so you can power the tweeter separate from the woofer.

Infinity has the 693.9 (or 692.9)... I have the 693.7 version in my Alero, but I'm using the supplied crossover because I didn't have the Monsoon setup.
But as Ryan said, YMMV.
