View Full Version : Functional Windows jumped off radio

I'm trying to power my window relay (I'm assuming there is a relay) off of my radio on signal.

The point would be to allow the windows to be functional when the car is turned off, but the radio is on, so key off/out before door is opened. I'm used to it in my Impala and while it would seem like it wouldn't be a big deal, I have found myself trying to do it all the time.
I plan on wiring an extra relay into the radio turn-on signal, and powering the window relay off of that. I assuming that this is possible, but I have minimal electric experience other than wiring in switches, LEDs, etc.

So my questions...
Has anyone done this?
Can someone point me to the correct diagrams for the window switch relay and location of radio turn-on signal?

Couldn't you just hook up a relay in the door and tap the red wire to the relay for power and switch button then will work all the time.

I don't want it to work all the time, only when the radio is on, or their supposed to be on. I'm going to be taking a look into this on Saturday, so if I figure it out I'll do a write-up

Thought are windows did work until you opened the door or after 15mins

Mine don't... and from what I've gained on the subject I will need to install a RAP module in order to make this work.

A credible source told me that the Alero doesn't have a RAP module, but I find that hard to believe considering the radio acts as if it's running off of a RAP module. My buddy just sent me a few MBs of diagrams for the Alero, so I'll be taking a closer look this weekend.

I have this guide to installing a F-Body RAP into a W-Body, not sure how far this will get me..

Also going to look into this RAP:

Since the switched power is Class 2 Data, does that mean I can't tap into it for a switch source?

That Antenna Voltage (DK GRN) wire might put out 12V you could use to run a relay while the radio is still on (after the key is out).

The relay could then supply 25A to the brown wire for the drivers side window switches.

I thought about that, but I was thinking the Antenna Voltage wire might only be hot when the radio is on, as in FM/AM and not CD. I'm going to hit it with a tester this weekend and see what I can come up with.

I think that wire continues on back to fire off the Audio Amplifier which should be on with the CD also.
